  5. Nickel Arcades on Japanese Arcade Scene Still Going Strong · · Score: 2, Interesting

has anyone else seen these? I live in the dallas area, and there's been one in Garland called Nickel Rama for as long as anyone knows, and just recently there was another Nickle arcade put in Plano, called House of Nickles. How they work is it's like a normal arcade, generally with 2nd run to fairly primitive (pac man, early 90's racing games) arcade machines, toss in some skeeball and skill games with tickets, a DDR clone, airhockey, and a real live pinball machine, they all take nickles rather than quarters for credits, so you end up spending about 10 cents (2 credits) for most games. Nickle Rama even has the Ferarri Challenge 355 game (racing game with three screens, clutch, and 6 speed shifter, real classy). There's a $1.95 cover charge for the whole day (tax included, so you get a nickle back, nice.) Also, I think they crank down the difficulty settings (if there are any), as $2 will let you play for about 2 hours. For $7 total, you can spend a good part of the day there. The one in Garland is always packed, and I suspect House of Nickles will be seeing some serious buisness by the end of the summer, even if they are across the street from Game Wyze.

erm.... does nobody else view the "PS2+" or whatever they call it simply a way to stay "current" with the Xbox in terms of press coverage, and online capability, and for the larger part, trying to hide the fact that the PS3 is a long ways off? methinks they hit a serious hiccup in PS3 technology development and this is to keep the executives happy....Just trying to keep things exciting for the consumer by wrapping the same old hardware in different clothing, while at the same time profiting off of more hardware sales, and lengthening the product cycle?

There is simply no way to appreciate Mark Twain and all the "Great American ________ Books" when you grew up in suburbia. Get your kid involved in indian guides, and all of those awesome groups, which cost nothing to be a part of. Those experiences and memories your children will have will be priceless when they are 20, 30 years old. Don't ruin their childhood by moving to suburbia. Have you considered 'offloading' the kids to a friend of the family, even for one day a week? Probably, but it's always looking at all your options a second, or even third time. Daycare is a horrible option, a last resort in my book.

The only thing to "port" would be maybe some of the 4 player multiplayer maps that they did post-buyout back to the "PC" version, and update the 'generic pc' graphics engine. Insert more whining about microsoft being a crappy company stifiling innovation. This would have been the next half life three years ago. my friend downloaded the ROM of this off of kazaa and was playing it on his emulator a couple of days after the first gamespy preview article came out, probably early march.

this is a crazy, crazy game. you banish, or maybe rescue, various people, a disco dancer, other people, and finally wario himself, to an ice cream shop, by succssfully completing 30 or so of these 3 second stages (for example, catch the toast, or "click on the food"), and of course as the article mentioned, there are lots of overly simplified NES games. Each "level" has a 30 second or so boss. The story is truly "japan weird", or at least on par with some of the crazy stuff they've put out. At some point in the story, from what we could figure out, is the toilet on a space ship gets clogged, and you complete mini games to unclog it, and.... i really don't know, it's all in japanese. This is where you 'save' the disco man. It's fun, trying to figure out just what the hell you're supposed to do.... but I can't see this game having much replay value at all once you figure it out.
