As a paying member of the Shack, I have to say that it's worth every penny. I've never gotten a single piece of spam and never had anything charged to my account I didn't explicitly OK. As for free alternatives, I don't know many (any, actually) that have such a huge selection of downloads, consistent 200 KB/sec download speeds, and wget support.
For somewhat less silly sounding names, check out this. Yes I know that this site is on asparteme.org and all of these organizations say that asparteme isn't harmful. Also, I'm not sure how the science of places like the American Cancer Society, the CDC, MIT, and the Mayo Clinic hold up against WAAM. Then again, the sheer number of groups saying that asparteme isn't harmful makes you wonder, doesn't it.
Just remember the Digitized Domesday Book. The digital version is now pretty much worthless after 15 years, but the original paper one is doing fine. And last I checked, stone can last quite a while.
Actually, a group of us from our school's Linux association did that at the Windows 2000 release in Boston. We all got valid badges and handed out copies of Linux and FreeBSD CD's (donated by Linux Central and Walnut Creek IIRC) in the waiting area. The Microsoft people didn't want to let us in the auditorium, but we promised not to cause any disruptions (we weren't planning on it anyway) and they let us in. Nobody in the waiting area seemed to mind.

Check out QNX. The floppy demo comes with a GUI, networking capability, and Web Browsing (although there aren't too many network drivers on the floppy version). Not bad.
How about Deep Throat - In ASCII Art!!. Personally, I think that beats out an all-ASCII boy band, but that's just me. Unfortunately, it's pretty slow - at least for me.
I don't know much about this stuff, but does anyone know how much it's like the PS7110? I only ask because of the Linux7k Project. Would this be helpful to them at all?
It looks cool, but with the exception of hideously overpriced software, I'm very happy with my Psion Series 5mx. 16 meg, flash slot, IR port, serial port, and a keyboard (doesn't come with anything like graffiti, but Scribble works fairly well and it's free). It works fine using my cell phone as a modem or even a regular external modem. (Side note: Can palms do this as well? I know about hooking them up to GPS with serial cables).
One way a teacher told me to visualize infinity was to picture a hotel with an infinite number of rooms and all of them are booked. A man comes in and asks to get a room. Can he fit?
Yes, he can. You just take the man in the first room and move him to the second, take the man from the second and move him to the third, etc. Then, you have a free room.
It's not very intuitive, but then again, neither is infinity. For instance, in the hotel example, it seems weird because with a finite number of rooms - even if you keep increasing the number to some pornographic amount - you will never be able to fit that one extra man. But if there are an infinite number, you can alway keep switching rooms.
Now, what if an inifinite number of people showed up and wanted a room?

Anyone out there automatically think of Manos: The Hands of Fate?
