And when I lose my admin job to someone overseas who will be expected to maintain a system that runs in English even though they cannot anywhere-near-fluently speak the language
Try getting an Indian to run Windows in Hindi - it'll confuse the hell out of them as they've always done their computing in English.
A lot of storm drains in Melbourne you can climb past grates or through holes in cyclone fencing. I used to go exploring when I was a kid. Good fun. Stupid, but good fun. Urban Speleology has a small following here too.
When you stop to think about it, the music RECORDING industry is actually a parasitic one living off the blood, sweat and tears of the musos. It is a separate industry living off the fading body of one of the most ancient and universal professions.
Before I get modded down, think of it this way. Say I own 15 CD's. The artists received maybe $3 out of that - if that. Those CD's keep me pretty much entertained for a year or two. If we didn't have such ubiquitous mass released music recordings, where would I get my music from? Well, probably to a large degree from live musicians. On street corners, in concert halls, coffee shops. For any decent party I'd hire musicians. Same for big events in life. Weddings, funerals etc where a lot of people now just play CD's. The wealthy would be patrons of music again, sponsoring musicians to play in their homes. Just like in the developing world, there would be a lot more musicians making their living out of performing and writing music.
The big recording labels and organisations such as this one TFA refers to are not helping musicians, but stifling music as a profession.
I've just set up a headless linux box myself for file/print serving and as a remote music player (using Xforwarding over SSH so the music player shows up on my laptop desktop, but the files, process and more importantly the speaker setup are all on the server). Only way to get into the BIOS that I could figure was to slap a monitor back on the box. Unfortunately I just found that the @#$%@#$%@$%@$% PS2 socket is busted so I can't enable WOL and I WANT MY WAKE ON LAN! What's the use of a headless box if you have to walk over to turn in on? Seriously. Just put in an old VGA card from somewhere.
Mechanical data entry is probably much easier than a direct linkup though. Unless you implant the connections in a child way before birth - ie before the brains wires itself for the mechanical way of doing things exclusively. How would you learn to use a direct linkup with a computer? Not a direct concept at all. Easier to grow a child with it already in place so they can learn to use it over a decade or so - just like we learn to use our hands so well.
Do I have reasons for my biases? Which bias? The one where I have a deep sense of dismay when dealing with bigots in any discipline who will slam anyone holding a different view to themselves without first trying to fully understand their opponents point of view? Yes. I've learned a lot in life by trying to understand things I don't necessarily agree with. Sometimes I even found that I was wrong...
Evolution is often followed as a kind of science religion, ID is an alternative being explored even by many non-religious people. The lines blur the closer you look sometimes...
That's very true, of course. But you can't grow wheat, barley, and Ford Pintos. I'm arguing that physics, philosophy, and automobile repair are fields of study, while ID is not. It is a platform. An agenda. It's like saying the people paid by the tobacco companies to falsify studies on the effects of tobacco smoke are conducting science. Apples to orangutans.
At many levels, Evolutionism is an agenda as well. Why else would there be such a push to have it taught in schools?
Actually does any theory or study of origins fit the scientific model? Science is based on that which can be tested. Finding ways to repeatably test remote historical events, or proposed events, is pretty difficult. While scientific study can be used to try and understand evidence, the final interpretation of many things depends very much on the bias of the interpreter. Anyone who denies that is either lying or blind.
In a field of grain, you can grow wheat, barley, rye or oats. It's still a field. ID is still an area that people study. It's a field. You may not agree with it. I may or may not agree with things that come out of it. That's fine. It's still a field of study. Get over it.
I couldn't watch it all. Couldn't keep attentive to the drivel...
I saw a documentary on using fungus for violin wood and comparing it with Strads about 15-20yrs ago. This is slow even for /.
I must agree with above. I downloaded a vm image a year or two ago. Shows a lot of promise!
...and farmers think that 15 miles an hour is fast...
You're from the city, ye? Perhaps the fact that farmers generally live in rural areas with less congested roads could have something to do with it?
Don't know about ping times, but the peck times are super fast!

Haha. When I say my point I usually get modded down first, then up!

Best case scenario it'll be a bad solder joint (like 95% of electronic problems). Thanks for the tip. I wasn't sure it was that easy to do...

Have to get the new Soylent Green!
Science fact? Commonly held to be fact, but it's generally spoken of as "Evolutionary Theory".
Zero gravity probably makes the actual copulation bit kinda tricky too.
I would love to see the NASA training budget for this one!
They could probably double their budget easily if they involved selected senators in the "training sessions"...

So what was predicted and how was it proven? Examples?
link?
Whether I agree or not, that was funny...
yes. It has been tested, and it has made predictions.
ID can not, and has not.
Predictions? like?
