    I wouldn't be surprized if their systems had been heavily customized (super users). Not making execuses but probably not a very good example of an average user. Regular j6p's don't usually install service packs and then blog about how well they worked.

    Why not think of it this way, 8mb of ram(92) was 300 or 400 hundred dollars. Currently 2GB of ram is 30$. Sounds like an improvement to me.

    The problem I have had is when I switch to another app firefox has taken all the available memory and my system slows to a crawl. So in this case a smaller memory footprint equals faster performance.
    My machine is a junky celeron emachine with 700mb of ram. Is it asking too much that firefox not use all of it?

    Without RTF I would guess that you could run every voltage as needed on a CPU instead of a single voltage. The MMX processor would need a higher voltage than the pipeline units (just making an example for illustration)

    Perhaps memory chips may hold data at a much lower voltage and only need a boost during a write operation.

    DOOM 3 was really a demo of their new game engine. I don't see anything wrong with building a game platform and then selling it to other companies who want to do creative work.

    My experience is that most companies business practices really suck, and would benefit from following the COTS product's methodolgy rather than writing their own.

    Even if you think that humanity is just a part of nature, wouldn't you believe that evolution has 'bettered' nature over time? I think the earth is much more interesting and diverse than the primordial ooze that it came from. I don't believe that you can assign a moral value to it but I think values of completeness and form are universal.

    I have had this problem with FLASH freezing up a window and keeping me from switching to another tab. It is extremely annoying!

    Older people (especially with kids) are more likely to stay around and contribute to their job, unlike kids who are padding their resume so they can go somewhere else for more money.

    perhaps you should look up the definition of 'catalyst'- by definition catalysts are restored to their original state in process cycles and are not consumed in a reaction.

    I will believe it when I see it. And what does the 75% efficiency mean, does that included drive train losses and wind resistance? Theoretically it doesn't take any energy to move someone someone from point A to point B as long as the points are the same altitude.
    Without context the 75% figure is meaningless.

    Charging batteries generates a tremendous amount of waste heat and only approaches 50% efficiency. Look up stats for NiMH.

    Maybe you should look at some of the photos of the skylab debris before making your assumptions.

    It was a neat hack too as they had to modify the systems sensors to work on a 'cold' satellite, and they did it in a month.
