  1. Athlon sounds more like a........ on AMD Thunderbird And Duron Set For June Launch · · Score: 1

running shoe or some kinds of sportswear. "Hey, those Athlons your wearing look pretty sharp." - - -

  2. Re:Good now maybe the US can get "real" gun contro on RIAA Claims Initial Legal Win vs. Napster · · Score: 1

There are refridgeraters out there that don't retain fingerprints either. Who do you think they are for? - - -

  3. I could make millions... on Intel FDIV bug vs ILUVYOU · · Score: 1

  4. Cool trick with the link but... on Philips VCR Records MPEG On (D-)VHS tape · · Score: 1

Doesn't Windows crash enough without any help? I had to click on it and see for myself. Knowing my curiousity I probably would have clicked on it if the warnings had been "above link formats your harddrive". - - -

  5. I couldn't have put it better myself. on Ask Douglas Adams About...Everything · · Score: 1

You hit the nail right on the head. If I ever had a chance to meet Douglas Addams that would be a question I would put to him. He ended mostly harmless in a manner that was very carefull not to leave any real possibility of another book in the series, at least not one involving the Earth, Ford Prefect, Arthur Dent, or Trillian. I had the distinct impression that the Vogon captains satisfaction at Earths total obliteration from all possibility was Douglas Addams satisfaction as well. I still enjoy his body of work, though I can't help thinking that he inwardly winces at the mention of THG2TG and wishes that the fans would move on like he has.

  6. Nvidia should open all of the source on GPL Violation - NVIDIA · · Score: 1

What are they? A hardware selling company or a driver selling company. They have nothing to gain and everything to lose by not providing open sourced drivers to a community of users who would surely give back and enrich the code far beyond anything Nvidia could do on their own. They are cutting off their nose to spite their face and I am not impressed with their tepid apology and dry corporate response. - -

  7. THE ABOVE LINK LEADS TO NASTY PICTURE. on Athlons Sold Out · · Score: 1

Moderate this PIECE OF SHIT into oblivion. He is abusing his priviledge to Troll with his childish link to a sick picture. If I wanted to see that kind of shit I would visit Bangedup dot com not Slashdot. -

  8. Re:I'm sorry but... on UPDATED: Outcast: Censorship Under The Digital Union Jack? · · Score: 1

I agree with you, that is why I wrote Netbenefit and explained to them that they won't recieve any business from me while they "pick and choose" their customers. I told them that although I sympathise with their legal position that I will not do business with them because of it.

  9. Time on Slashdot Meets The Pinkerton Corp. · · Score: 1

One thing no one here has mentioned is that students in our public schools should not have the time or the spare energy to establish a pecking order. It is the teachers responsibity to see to it that the pecking order is Teacher on top and Students on the bottom, period. This means maintaining discipline in class, focusing on educating and having a zero tolerance policy towards bullying and hazing. School was never meant to be a social club for kids. While on school grounds a student should be kept busy learning their lessons, working on a future vocation or participating in sanctioned and supervised afterschool activities. Teachers and administrators are dropping the ball and letting the inmates run the asylum.

  10. Re:DVD region stuff on Play Region 1 DVDs On A Japanese PS2 · · Score: 1

Their web site has an annoying pop up box that follows your mouse curser around and it doesn't let you use your browsers back button to back out of their home page. Seems more like the tactics of a porn web site than an electronics one to me. Not that I have anything against porn.

  11. Greed on Pirates Steal Negative $1,400,000,000 from Music Industry · · Score: 4

I think that to be a record company executive you have to never grow out of that "No it's mine and you can't have it stage" of childhood developement. My parents taught me to share so I guess I'll never make the cut. I refuse to support the record industry, I'll never pay for their music and I hope that everyone else wakes up and gets tired of being spoon fed the mediocre overpriced crap that they are trying to push on us.

  12. Thank you. on Lightning Crashes, An Old Freedom Dies (Updated) · · Score: 1

Thank you, Jamie for your efforts to enlighten the public about the attack on our first amendment rights with filtering software. I agree that people in their arrogant hurry to stifle their nieghbors speach will foolishly pursue this matter to everyones detriment, including their own. Our government is literally too big for one human being to comprehend, and unlike yourself I am too tired to fight this multiheaded hydra. My choices seem to be mild and ineffective activism for a few issues I care about, or devote my life to politics. No wonder Americans are apathetic, we let our government get out of control. It's like a small greasfire in the kitchen that spreads and burns down a house if left on it's own too long, and this has already happened with our freedom.

  13. They aren't that far off. on Senior Navy Official Slams Microsoft · · Score: 1

Hmm, lets see... Microsoft takes in 15 billion dollars a year in net profit and the U.S. Navy takes in 80 billion dollars a year in tax revenue. So far it looks like the navy is ahead but Microsoft could concieveably catch up. Of course to the Navys credit they are backed up with weapons of mass destruction and the rest of the U.S government. Oh yeah, and they are the customer (customer is always right) and they have great alternatives to Micrsofts products (OSS). .................................................. ..................................................

  14. Companies will do any thing but pay you more. on Ford Giving Free PCs to All Employees · · Score: 1

I say thanks but no thanks to these little perks that companies offer instead of a solid wage and benefit package. Would it kill these profitable companies to simply pay their workers more or give better benefits? Whatever happened to profit sharing, piece work, or productivity bonuses? Now, it seems that most companies just want to give you cheap junk as an incentive to work harder. In conclusion, I say, just give me the money and I will decide how to spend it. ------------------------------------------------
