The racism conference was a joke, it was hijacked by racists whose sole gole in life is to destroy Israel and kill all the Jews. Every Islamic terrorist organization holds zionism as the biggest evil in the world.

Recently (maybe 4-6 months ago) the news was doing a story on the violence in Jerusalem. They were discussing the Temple mount(that Sharon visited to start this current mess), they had an Islamic cleric on to talk about it, he was saying that there never was a Jewish temple there, claiming that there is no proof! Yet when archaeologists were digging there and unearthing Jewish artifacts the Palestinian's immediately ended the excavation.

Honestly, if you are using your Exchange server as a POP/SMTP server only you are wasting your money. Exchange is groupware, you do not use it as a POP/SMTP server. Save your money and just run sendmail on Linux, BSD or Solaris. Exchange is for calendering, scheduling, messaging, etc. This report is pretty much worthless.

How many Xboxes will have their warantees invalidated as new users buy them for $199 and hack them up?

Well if that is your criteria - none. The XBox is $299, of course you cannot preorder them for $299 now, you can only get them in the bundles for like $499 with a few games.

Gamecube is $199, no idea if you will be able to buy it for $199 initially, they will probably do a bundle deal too. Of course since it has no HD it is a little more trouble to hack.

At any rate I agree that the XBox will be hacked in no time at all. Anybody want to bet that the XBox firmware is probably encrypted, which means that hacking it is a violation of the DMCA...

After a few minutes of searching I think I finally figured out exactly where PCWorld has "reported" that Linux will have USB 2.0 drivers in first half of 2002. It is located in this story .

Here is the information they give:

"But don't count USB 2.0 out. Microsoft has announced that it will offer downloadable USB 2.0 drivers for Windows 2000 and for the upcoming Windows XP operating system. Linux support for USB 2.0 should come in the first half of 2002.

Silicon behemoth Intel currently provides space for a USB 2.0 controller chip on its Pentium 4 motherboards, and Gateway has announced that it will put the chips in some PCs beginning this fall. Intel and Acer Labs plan to put USB 2.0 into at least some chip sets by mid-2002; Via Technologies, on the other hand, will add IEEE 1394 support to its chip sets before turning to USB 2.0. AMD says it will support USB 2.0, but not how or when."

Sounds like speculation to me on the Linux drivers. Do any Linux USB devs have any actual info about this?

It is up to the courts and congress to set a fair price scheme in place for any compulsory licensing. As the article says, if the two sides cannot come to agreement on a fair price then they go to arbitration. The arbitration panel then sets the price.

Sure people hate what they are not familiar with. They don't like change, but some of the end comments by the users does not neccesarily support the argument that a windows like interface is needed. I like P10's comment the most:

"It is like a cross between Windows and a Mac. It looks like it is designed for everybody."
People familiar with Windows are able to just use KDE (debateable, but no studies have been performed on it so I will give it to you), but that doesn't mean that they like it. It is what they are familiar with and what they know. So they can be lazy and not have to learn anything new.

Many users will probably be like that, but there are a lot of users out there that hate the Windows interface but don't even know it because they have never used anything else. I absolutely hated the Mac interface until I used it for several days in a row. Once I became familiar with it it was very nice, I started to dread going back to my windows desktop.

Basically what I am saying is I want BOTH to thrive, I want both to be put through these kinds of tests repeatedly. People should be able to use what they like, one does not have to win over the other.
