At least this article didn't try and claim the rings are as old as the universe, like some others have. The article itself has been corrected, but the comments towards the end summarise the "insight" of the original article just fine:)
Wow, I thought that damned Xbox game was going to sink any hope of seeing a decent Shadowrun computer game at any point in the future. Who'd have thought the thing sucking so much would turn out to be the thing that now gives me hope of a decent game being made:)
Yes, and it also specifically mentions "graphical icons" in the same sentence, which I would suggest is the part they are claiming has been made popular by IM programs, given that they/are/ the part that has been made popular by IM programs
I think that means that email applications have started rendering the text smilies as actual image smilies, and that is a "recent" addition taken from its popularity in IM apps.
Because a goodly number of people would prefer this headline be changed from
"Root Exploit For NVIDIA Closed-Source Linux Driver"
to
"Root Exploit For NVIDIA Linux Driver"
But there are two drivers for Nvidia cards, one open source which is used by default and one closed. A headline that tells you which one actually has a problem seems like a good idea to me...
Of course, there is also an amusing irony in the fact I've just spent a week trying to get the closed source binaries working on my system so I could stop using the open source drivers. I got it working yesterday, and this is the headline for today:)
And who do you think is going to invade you? Someone that enjoys being nuked?
Fine, then instead of invading the US, they take the chance to invade one of the US allies and wipe them out. Either way, the cost of a human life is well worth it, because it in turn protects more human lives from being lost
Besides, thats not what you said.
You're right, it's not what I said, because I didn't make the original comment. I just saw yours and happened to disagree with you
You were talking about dollar values versus human life.
Maybe he was, but my entire point is that quite often it's about more than pure dollars, and due to that, sometimes a human life is what has to be paid
Lets say that tomorrow, it's discovered that scuttling every ship in the US navy will save my life from a newly discovered illness (I know it's a dodgy example, but I wanted to remove the whole bargaining with terrorists angle that would arise with a more traditional example). You're seriously telling me that it's worth leaving the US defenceless, just so that I, a non US citizen, can survive.
At this point, the ship(s) is certainly worth more than a human life, because losing it represents a substantial risk to a greater number of human lives
How is that money laundering? Back in the days when paypal could be used for online casinos, that's exactly how it worked. You'd buy things here and there, and you could also deposit some funds to a casino. How does it count as laundering when it's literally everyday use, with no greater goal in mind?
But the law only applies to banks doesn't it? If that's the case, it's impossible to define a transaction where the end result is a payment to an online casino. You use your credit card to top up your online payment service account. Then, you use said payment service to, at a different date, for a differing amount, to fund a deposit to an online casino. You also buy some merchandise, and make other non gambling related purchases. Exactly which transaction/with the bank/ was done to make payment to an online casino?
It's not terribly hard to bypass. There are numerous sites out there such as NETeller, Firepay etc that are effectively the same idea as Paypal. You deposit funds to them, and through them, to the online casino
I used to be involved with a gaming store in a small city near Brisbane, which has been (and still is) running successfully for a few years now. What we found is that location is very important. The trick is though that you need to find a location and make an environment that is friendly to tourists and business user walkins during school hours as well as dealing with the kids that come in after school hours. In the smaller cities it's not that hard to find locations like this, because they generally only have one main shopping district, which is popular with business and school kids during the appropriate hours. In a larger, capital city with shopping districts all over the place, finding that balance might be harder
Way back in the day, there were talks of making a Shadowrun movie, but they fell through when the producers didn't want to include metahumans and other core elements of the Shadowrun setting. To the best of my knowledge (though I can find nothing to corroborate this), they went their own way and that seed went on to become the Matrix.
Are you also an elf, or dwarf, or paladin or whatever? Because stating on one hand that you're in to the full immersion aspect of roleplaying, but can play someone of another race easier than you can play someone of the same race but different gender just strikes me as rather strange...
Presumably however, you'd at least be able to use the existing temperature difference to at least offset the cost of running the airconditioner? Obviously it's not a perpetual energy machine, so you'd lose out in the end, but it seems to me that at least it could use some of the cooled air that is otherwise just going to be wasted.
Maybe it's just me, but I think that if you're in a situation where you have to make a conscious choice to buy cheaper tomatoes just so you can retire one day, there is something very broken somewhere...
Well that will be great for any of their users who get a dynamic IP that was previously used to download the code.
That very fact is why I think the post you were replying to is likely full of it
I'm trying, but those pesky Norwegians keep protesting...

There is also the chance for genuine "role playing" which is something you don't see in most MMORPG's, even on their RP servers
A mod point, a mod point, my kingdom for a mod point
You mean except for the descriptive text right under the first link?
Heh. Alright, I missed that :)
He mean key presses, up and down, not the up and down keys

Ssh yourself. You're the one giving them ideas ;)

Well I can't argue with that. Thank you for a much more insightful response than I was hoping for
Why? because I am a man man!

It's also a rather awesome online strategy/collectible card game
