Bruce is not an obscure technologist. He is one of, if not the, leading name in Information Security. Of course, I'm an Information Security Analyst so maybe that's why he is not obscure to me......:)
We need good Enterprise "support" companies like Red Hat if Linux wants to make it really big with large companies. It's also very cool to have a "community" version of Linux that everyone can help build.
He's using it as part of the explanation why SCO is in the wrong. Did you not read the whole article? Personally, I'm sick of people complaining about RMS talking about GNU/Linux. The fact is, without GNU there would be no Linux. That's something that cannot be disputed.
I use both Linux and FreeBSD and I'll have to agree with you on your comment about the Linux userbase. There are a lot of users that feel they need to destroy MS. You know what? I just ignore MS and the stupid things they do.
"Microsoft said the changes it made complied with the latest industry standards, and said early indications linked the problems to some popular third-party products, such as protective firewall software sold by other companies."
Microsoft really needs to start taking ownership of issues like this and stop blaming third-party software.
"I guess we should say Long live Debian and Gentoo?"
And.....Fedora, Slackware, and on and on and on.......
What is everyone so worried about? There are so many choices out there when it comes to Linux. Actually, maybe Novell will release ISO's???????
Okay, actually, this is OpenBSD......
It's not funny when it's done right. It's extremely not funny when you do it wrong.
He's just spreading FUD. I could really care less what comes out of Bill Gates' mouth. Hell, I could care less what comes out of Redmond........
Welcome to the space race? Uhhhhhh, that was about 40 years ago.
I was mentioned. It came it at number 3 on the favorite Linux website.
Good one....... :-)
Very good points. Not all of us in the US think national ID cards are a bad thing...
You brought up some very good points.

I agree! What the Hell is HP doing sponsoring this show?
Is anyone else sick of the "In Soviet Russia" comments. They're not funny......

Way to go Europe!!!!!
I wish this worked in the US. The politicians here in the US could care less about the voters!
Good for them! I'm hoping this begins to happen all over the world.
Go back to school.....and this time, don't skip English.
That would be very cool....... :)

Where did this comment come from? I thought this was an article about the release of FreeBSD 5.1???? UN statistics??? Whatever.......
Thanks for making me laugh, dipshit......
It is there. It's important enough to place on the main Slashdot page, as well.
Couldn't agree more. I'm sick of all this......

Like it's been said a hundred times.....I'm sure Novell just wanted to make sure they were 100% correct.
How, exactly, is this Symantec's problem? MS needs to test their updates before releasing them to the public.
