  1. Major benefits seem overlooked on Why 'Gaming' Chips Are Moving Into the Server Room · · Score: 1

While it is true that parallelization does not necessarily assist a single program to operate more efficiently or faster, it is true that multi-cpu systems allow more concurrent programs to operate. In a major corporate context, there are 1000's of jobs running at any given time. The more effective number of CPU's (and memory) the better to keep costs down.

SETI has been interesting only in that it has demonstrated, at least at our technology level, nobody is home and using electromagnetism to communicate. The next level of communication is utilizing "ansible" technology which leverages quantum entanglement, aka Einstein-Rosen Bridge. Quantum entanglement has been demonstrated recently at a distance of 10 miles, and there is no reason to believe any amount of "physical" distance is relevant for the "effect". Lots of luck detecting communication using this technique.

Frankly, managing privacy and security is a giant PITA, and I'd reckon, a drag on resources. Microsoft has dozens of teams working, each integrating standards at their own pace. Most people don't care. How many commerce engines are running in the background handling transactions? As long as the point to point transaction is "secure", who cares if its linked to the domain. The vast majority of people running mom and pop shops, or even in the tech industry doing dev / testing, don't care about tying certs down to a domain because they use lots of domains / change often and its a pain and viewed as a waste of time to manage all of them.
