KDE is just turning onto XP clone. Yeah the gnome file picker is lite, but alot of us like that. What else do you need to do in a file picker? Look at fester adams? Click on "My Desktop"? "My Network Places" Some of us don't need it sugar coated.
DUH Me thinks best UI is like whatever microsoft happens to be selling.
This guy sounds like a wank gnu newbee or a closet case ms lover.
whatever (off topic) i'll do what i want! (with low karma)

I've got nine fans in my workstation (one is 7200 rpm) and 5 in my server. You can guess how loud my home office is. Oh not to mention the fans in my girlfriend's case.

j/k but why in america do people feel the need to put a copyright on EVERYTHING! In this case it only tarnishes a beautiful picture of cristalized water.:(
You don't get it, it isn't a public p2p share. A system operator sets up a bunch o files for download, the server software validates the files for integrity and error correction perposes. Then people download a client to get fast downloads. As they are downloading it other people can be downloading bits of the file that other clients in his area have aready been downloaded. Thus faster. In therory you can get your full bandwidth this way and each client only has to give up a tiny bit of band width, with very little stain on the original server. The more popular it is the better it is.
And the point of the open content network is to distribute open software, and they happen to be partnered with a p2p company that does just such a thing. So yes I see them doing this in the future.
Taxing email? Downloads? They want to get in on that internet pie? What, are they going to edit my q-mail conf file? This is dumb. They can make legislation but it's not like it COULD even work. Don't they know the reason people use internet services like email is because it's free and you don't have to buy a stamp.
It seems like alot of you just read the front page and seem to think this is some type kazaa clone. I agree the browser pug in is kinda gay.
What this "could" mean is say if your favorite distro has just been updated, we all know how hard it is to download 3 isos while they are in high demand. The thing about OCN and OnionNetworks type software is that the high demand and download rate will help the availibility. Plus everything is authenticated and logged so worms/trojens/fakes really arnt a problem.
As far as OCN goes, it's not for warez, and divx. I think it's intended for geek's free software distrobution. So love it, and try to inovate it.
Why don't us geeks just stop using convetonal web browsing all together. Perhaps some type of p2p network except with useful information, insted of JUST porn and warez. And design it so there isn't a very good way to advertise on it either.:)
the UI of linux is it's biggest problem. if anything feels disjointed about the operating system it's the GUI above all other issues. it's just years behind in development. sit down at a macosx box and sit back down at your linux box to put it all into persepective. the other thing i don't like is all the extra crap no one will ever use that comes with redhat distros. the cd's should just copy to the hard drive and all the packages should be there to be used and installed at your convenence, but off the bat, in the original install they should just install the A+ software only per function you want. I would also be cool if the installer could prob your hardware, ask you a few questions about funcionality and then compile a custom kernel to your system. that's what I want. Less bloted distros. And as far as the gui goes, dumb it up as much as you can to get people to come over to linux, but it better be slick as shit.
Lets get a bunch of millionairs together to guilt trip the poor during hard economic times to help boot our profits. WHAT!?
I'm sick of the kazaa napster compairison, it's lame. kazaa can share anything not just mp3. People just choose to focus on that. What about all the divx traiding that goes on? I'm sure the Motion Picture Assosiation would be interested in knowing about that.
The record industry needs to relize that they have no place in modern music distrobution. CDs are useless, and plus they skip.;p
If apple moves on the x86 platform market, it could be the best that they could do. I for one would buy their software in a heartbeat if I could run it on a home made machine. It's the only thing that's holding that company back. It would really put microsoft on the run from unix based computers. To bad it'll never happen because they are in bed with each other.
Steve Jobs should grow a pair and just do it. Nobody likes proprietary hardware anyways.
They both have their strong points. But that fact of the matter is that the friendly competition be the two is what pushes them to be better.
I was a gnome man for quite a long time. I really liked the applets and the design your own interface feel, and the icons are quite nice to look at as well. But I don't like the sluggish performance and overall buggie-ness of gnome. When KDE came out with version 3 I was finaly happy with the speed and stability, but kde, has something missing about it. Maybe it's just the GUI style but they have tried to look so bland that it really isn't any fun to use and gives the Xnix desktop no identity of it's own.
I think if you just try to fallow windows that you'll just get lost in it's shadow. The linux desktop needs to bring something new that both mac and windows don't have. That's the only chance it has. It's so easy to compare the OS to windows now, and all it does is show it's shortcomings.
Wow, what a load of crap. That's not how it works. What the US does is goes into a country overthows it's government and tells the people that we will only stop bombarding the country if they take on a capitalistic democratic style government. That way US companies can exploit the cost of cheep local labor and exploit the natural resorces of the land. Regardless of what the people in the other country want.
Sounds to me like "If you don't give me you lunch money, I'll beat you up some more."
The us govenment looks out for one thing only - Big Biz. Money is in power.
One good thing the administration has done!
By the sound of this post, should the "foot" icon be used insted. >;?)

I tired of the bull. I want my game that I paid for! Id even be cool if they put out unstable builds, whatever. As a linux user I'm used to it.

p2p network suites will never be able to make any type of positive reputation if they keep pulling this kind of crap.

this is why I use kazaa lite.

So it looks as if I'll be getting my firewall up and running tonight.
For that kind of money they should just buy a boat with an engine. Of course that's America for ya.
