Very well then. If the President is not a military position, which I may concede, then what does service in the military matter. Being in a firefight still does not qualify one as Commander-in-Chief.
No points there.
Oh and incidentally, military coutesy dictates that members of any military service DO salute the Presiident of the United States. He is at the top of the chain of command. I pity the enlisted man or officer who's superior catches him or her not doing this.
As for Afghanistan, USA never agreed with whom? We may not have recognized the government (which I haven't verified) but it fulfilled all the requirements of a sovereign nation.
Yeah, 4 months military experience as a boat commander definitely trumps 3 years experience as the Commander-in-Chief of the most powerful armed forces the world has ever seen in a war with two different sovereign nations.
This is the most ridiculous point for Kerry supporters to bring up when discussing comparative qualifications. No offense to you directly, but people who espouse this nonsense should try saying it out loud. Sounds pretty ridiculous to me.
I am obviously not a Kerry supporter. This argument, though, has NO CHANCE of converting me.
That the simple-minded judging, the derogatory attitude, and the holier-than-thou attitude comes from the same place?
Kind of like how some people can't tolerate a harmless jibe at France, but take great joy in ripping apart the American President who some of us actually respect. I don't *need* to go to France to take a harmless shot at them. They have done enough in the last 4 years to warrant it.
Incidentally, I don't get militant about defending Bush either. He should be derided for his real faux pas. Original post was a joke, don't be so sensitive.
My step-father is like this. He eats more pasta in a sitting than I can even look at. Does it 3 times a day too. Skinny as a rail. Of course, he's outside working from 6 in the morning until past sundown.
Guess that farming work ethic has some significant benefits. Cutting carbs is only for those who are inactive. Good luck longterm though.
With all due respect, I think you have it backwards. The Army and military in general is NOT trained for rebuilding infrastructure or even for "peacekeeping" or law enforcement. The military is trained for one thing: Achieve their military objectives as quickly and efficiently as possible. Military objectives generally fall into 3 categories.
1. Kill that guy. 2. Keep that guy from killing someone else (method: see #1). 3. Train for 1 and 2.
This is the reason Vietnam turned out the way it did. If you expect the military to effectively do anything but kill the enemy, be prepared to be disappointed.
IMHO, Civilian contractors, US, Iraqi, or otherwise, should be doing the reconstruction. It is the Iraqi government's responsibility to oversee this task and the US government's responsibility to assist as appropriate.
I really believe that given enough time, humankind will conquer disease and disability completely. We may begin to look like the cybernetic beings of science fiction to some extent, but I think there is nothing beyond the scope of human accomplishment if we could just focus on things that are really important.
No matter if you as an individual have issues about either of these companies. This is a good example of the free market working as intended. Too bad all industries don't compete internally like this.
Actually, it's not as simple as that. There have been many complaints about programs that track many tcp connection attempts being broken as well (like P2P applications for example).
I wonder if this would affect web and application servers with high client counts or large transaction rates too. This may just be the beginning of these complaints.
From the site, the specs on this device state MTBF 2,000,000 hours. I'm more interested in how they came up with that number.
Sounds really cool, I would love to keep the OS and swap on one of these and use an SATA or IDE drive for storage. Little nervous about using what sounds like a "1.0" release.
Sorry, greatest respect for the Canadian team, but my money is on SpaceShipOne, literally. Bought stock in SpaceDev when they announced the engine contract for SS1. Pretty cool technology too, essentially, the SS1 engines burn a combination of rubber and nitrous oxide as fuel. Very safe and non-polluting from what I understand. Also capable of stopping and restarting after initial ignition. Can't do that with a solid fuel booster.
Hmmmm...maybe they should declare that they own the IP for Linux to pump the stock up. Gotta go make a call.....
IMHO, I believe it's a combination of trying to get a jump in the emerging market of private space travel, trying to get one's name in the history books, and (hopefully) a great deal of the explorer spirit that appeals to more thoughtful people. This will need to be done, why not do it now while there's a little extra incentive?

Of course, and socialist or communist aims have never had stupid or evil intent:
"...the theory of the Communists may be summed up in the single sentence: Abolition of private property"
Marx
"Freedom can only be found down the barrel of a shotgun......."
Mao-Tse-Tung
"Communism has nothing to do with love. Communism is an excellent hammer which we use to destroy our enemy."
Mao Tse-tung
"Under capitalism, man exploits man. Under communism, it's just the opposite."
John Kenneth Galbraith

4 words.
Hell if I know.
I swear to god, either I'm getting old, these people are absolutely brilliant, or it's time to turn in my Geek Membership card.
Kudos to all the talent.

Thank god for dedicated people like this.

Copyright issues?
Let's see.
Primary point: SP2 limits tcp connections affecting programs like P2P.
Secondary Point: Speculation on how this might impact high connection applications OTHER THAN P2P.
Good way to miss the point of a post.

for those of you that installed it, like I did, do you feel serviced or packed. Thanks Bill.
BTW, at least it uninstalls clean. I think.
I only see 6 digits in your ID, maybe your hash was cracked.
No kidding. Maybe my dry humor is a little too dry. Besides, if it's a Russian missile I'm sure it would accidentally hit Berlin first
(P.S. ^^ Joke)
I hope they were reliable. Somehow I don't think NORAD will care for excuses if an SS-N-18 starts dropping towards Chicago.
Format, fdisk, re-install do da, do da...
Thanks. Took me a minute to put that to the tune of "Camptown Races". Then I started laughing. Sonn as I get mod points you get one.

Well, maybe not Japan.

Well, parachuting to the ground worked for the Americans for almost 30 years. Never lost an astronaut either. OK, so we dropped into the water.
It worked for the Russians, though, and they never lost a.......oh wait.

It is essentially a modern version of the German V2 rocket.
Looks like London may not be safe yet. Someone call Tony Blair!
By the way, I have German ancestry (first generation American). Don't get all riled up.
Wonder how long it will be until they see:
