That's the adaptive optics system which basically creates an artificial star for the telescope to focus on. This helps correct light distortion, as well as warding off any stray UFOs.
The stores participating are not really "mainstream" stores, at least as far as I can tell. I'd wager most of the people making trips to brick and mortar record shops for this event are the consumers who purchase vinyl. You're probably right about a significant portion of people not stopping by for free CDs even, but there are still consumers who would gladly make a trip to their local record shop to get 50% off vinyl or other items.
Generally, the stores participating are small shops that sell lots of vinyl 12" and 7" records, so there is still some merit in having these stores around. Well, at least for the people who still purchase and listen to vinyl records.
...and what about the "liabilities" that come with using lethal force (aka your sidearm) to incapacitate a criminal? Isn't this much better than say, firing off a round into someones leg?
The only thing that worries me is what the target may do when all of a sudden he's disoriented. What if his gun is drawn at the officers (or civilians) when he's disabled? TFA says most victims "freeze", but I don't see how inverse-of-blinding light would make your entire body stop working. What if the victim starts blindly firing his weapon?
The pirated app appears to be created and released by the same company who makes the legitimate app. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean it was a good thing to do.
Isn't the whole intellectual property debate about whether it's right or wrong to share an idea? Wouldn't "The_Tunnel_2011" be the same IP as "SUPER_L33T_THE_TUNNEL_2011", as long as the file wasn't altered?
I was under the impression that the file itself wasn't the underlying issue. I don't think you can call one.torrent file "legitimate" while calling another that points to the SAME file "illegitimate".
All three of the "Back to the Future" movies are rated PG, not PG-13 as you stated.
If anyone wants to see the clandestine and ridiculous nature of the MPAA ratings board, check out the movie "This Film Is Not Yet Rated". It shows just how messed up the rating process is, and how forcibly they/try/ to control the creativity of film makers. They're often successful, which is very sad. Ratings are largely arbitrary and shouldn't be taken seriously by anyone. These scum bags need to be disposed of.
Does it come with a spittoon and those rickety, swinging wooden doors?

"The researchers used computational methods to work backwards and find the most likely sequences of these proteins hundreds of millions of years ago."
So why are we just hearing about it now?
The PC version of GTA IV.
*shudders*
Apple really does present a cohesive, usable platform with most of the rough edges filed off.
Those rough edges aren't just filed off, they're rounded.
An 11 year old with a license to drive? What's next, Great Britain? A 16 year old with a license to kill?

Now you're thinking with cross-platform gaming portals!
You mean "no openness of any kind...besides the ones listed in TFA who are already sharing" right?

Who is this "they" that you speak of?

I, for one, welco...oh wait.
It's a doggy dog world...
I realized this from the gecko.

Narbacular Drop and Portal were developed by the same team. They were just Valve employees when they made the former.
Seriously?
The difference between C-sharp and D-flat? What difference? They're enharmonically equivalent to each other.
Offtopic, but save yourself some money and get a Dell S2309W if you can sacrifice the 1" difference.
Now, instead of having your shitty pictures interrupted by phone calls, you could have your high quality pictures interrupted by phone calls.
Ingenius!
Only 5000 more rep and I'll be exalted with the Microsoft faction! Discounts abound!
His in-head rounding skills, however, were taught by Lorena Bobbitt.
You mean Mitchell Fox, right?
