"Heat's another factor; modern drives run damn hot - you really want a fair bit of airflow around them, either from your normal case intake fans and convection, or dedicated active cooling. Just because it runs fine doesn't mean you're not cutting it's lifetime in half, or worse."
My thoughts exactly. At 7200 or more RPM modern IDE drives get way too hot. SCSI drives have spun faster than that for a long time, but they're more often used in high-end servers where they're more likely to be properly cooled. It doesn't help that manufactures are trying to cram them into tight spaces with very little airflow. If you care for your drive at all, install active cooling on it and give it room to breathe! It's a lot cheaper than replacing your drive. I use one of these on each of my drives. They're pretty quiet and cheap.
Wow, I'm impressed. I've never seen someone get modded as a troll with a comment of only three characters. And they don't even form a word! If only we all could make such efficient use of our keyboards...

Wouldn't it be a CD-W? (CD-Written)
The only difference I know of between CDs and CD-Rs is that CDs use pits of some sort to form sounds while CD-R/RWs use dyes. I don't think it'd be inaccurate to call it a CD. Just don't specify pressed.
I don't see it happening. There has to be another alternative. LCDs just don't look as good as CRTs. They just cannot display colors as well. Hard core gamers, graphic artists, etc. will demand better. What ever happened to those really thin CRTs I heard about a while back?
Well this brain tissue will have to come from somewhere. If it comes from humans, we could have the same issues as with stem cell research. If it comes from animals (more likely) PETA will defecate copious amounts of brick
Perhaps you should read my comment again. Since their thinking they can ban such things depends on their interpretation of the constitution, the word "could" in my comment obviously does not refer to their capability. "Could" rather refers to the constitutionality of banning these things. They cannot do it without defying the constitution. Of course they do it every day anyway. Thank you for blessing us with your great display of intelligence douche bag.
"I've got a better idea. We're going to ban all computer games because playing them can lead to death. Now that would be very 'liberal,' don't you think?"
Yes, that would be a very liberal interpretation of the constitution to think you could do that.
While an air rifle is arguably ok, NEVER fire a firearm at a camera anywhere near town. Those bullets don't magically disappear when you hit or miss the camera. They fall somewhere with deadly force. If you're lucky you'll just have to pay for an expensive side of beef.
Actually, there is also a large fan on the radiator in nearly ever case. A large fan at a low RPM can usually do the job well so noise isn't an issue, but if that fan fails the radiator won't be doing nearly as good a job as it had been, and you could be in danger of cooking some components.
I really don't think this is viable for consumer systems. It makes it much more difficult to replace a component. Most people won't have any idea if their water cooling system goes bad until it's too late. How many times has a fan gone bad without your noticing? A dying fan certainly makes it's presence known. There are inline flow meters that can sound an alarm if flow falls too much, but I'm not so sure I trust them. Besides, who wants to be bothered to check the coolant in their computer ever so often?
I use a GeForce 4 Ti4600 and an NEC MultiSync 95. Quality isn't the issue. Things just get too small to use at high resolutions. GUIs are designed to run ideally at around 800x600 or 1024x768.
I run my desktop at work at 1152x864 on a 17" monitor, and most passers-by are suprised that I can even use it at that resolution. At home I run at 1280x1024 on a 19" monitor. My video card and monitor can easily reach 1600x1200. Why don't I use that? The UI cannot scale usefully to higher resolutions. UI elements do not get more detailed at higher resolutions, they get smaller. To a point that's good, but when your task bar (or whatever imitation) is only a quarter-inch high you have some real issues that need worked out. You can use larger fonts and all, but that just doesn't cut it.
I watch it once in a while, but some of the copycat shows are better. I tuned in last night and half of it was soft porn. It was ridiculous. Carmen Electra was was in a trashy teacher's uniform in a school room lecturing schoolboys. Porn has its place, but comedy central is not it. I'm glad to see it go. I figured they were getting desperate for viewers. Sex sells, but they're going way to far with it.
On the topic of the bots, I too would love to see more originality. Half the bots were some form of wedge. Why take to time to build the bot if its going to be just like everyone else's? Once in a while you see some good ideas, but it's rare.
I say make them AI controlled, put the ring in the middle of nowhere, get rid of the safety rules, and run until one is no longer mobile and/or capable of attacking.

Y'all got issues. =]

The most impressive thing is what he did to his monitor
Except the fact that it now has like NO ventilation. Well very little anyway.

I hate how *every* opportunity to point out the merits of their distro is taken swiftly. We all know gentoo is cool.
True, but you should really give libranet a try. It's like a softer, friendlier Debian.

And what if you miss the camera? Or just get the edge of it and the bullet ricochettes?

Actually that's an ICBM not ISBM. ICBM = InterContinental Ballistic Missile. Good try though.
Did you try to save some money on this week's weed?
Just ARP flood the switches until they fall back into hub mode.
Eventually the prices will drop further since (I suspect) it's no more expensive to manufacture DVD-R than it is to make CD-R.
This is what I'm waiting for. It shouldn't cost more based on capacity. The factor should be cost to produce and cover costs.

DVD burners are available for about $200. That's less than most digital cameras period. Now they just need to bring down the price of media.

Do you have any idea what the RAID levels mean, or are you just trolling? Either way you're an idiot.
Do you even know what money laundering is?
