I hate Hillary as well, but like you said, she is Gandhi compared to Trump and any nonsense that is going to come out of the RNC this week. Has this moron Thiel looked at their anti-gay agenda even?

Also, Gizmodo article does mention that the retailers wont be able to figure out individual "conversions" from ad to store visit, they will only be able to get an idea of percentage numbers from total ads seen to total visits. Then, Facebook’s Offline Conversions API will match in-store visit data (tracked using the phone’s location services) with Facebook advertising data. So, H&M won’t be able to see if you individually visited after its “store locator” sent you strong subliminal messages, but it will be able to match visits with the number of people who saw that ad in their feed and felt compelled to walk in.

I like this model of portable work. However, what needs to happen is that the companies that want to use this must allocate a fund or must pitch in so that they are paying some amount even if they dont have any work requirements currently. Its a sacrifice they need to make in return for the flexibility to hire people for only a short duration as per their work needs. In return, the workers get a little extra security and maybe some flexibility in deciding what they want to do as well.

I had the same thought earlier but I think there is a market for a wearable which is not as bulky as a phone and allows you to be in sync with a main device like a phone which you can use when large screen size is needed or maybe when calling someone. I am not sure that a "watch" is really the answer to that problem. But it is easier to read messages/notifications or do some tasks using a watch than having to get the phone out of the pocket. Even Apple hasnt really come up with great solutions to how do we respond to the millions of notifications we are going to get. At some point I think people are going to get tired of having to lift their hands and turn their wrists to read/send messages. I always thought the Google glass was a good solution to this problem but alas it got bad publicity by being always on.

  20. Re:Seems good to me. on The American Workday, By Profession · · Score: 2

This COULD be a bad thing. A good economy is one that maximizes productivity while helping workers find a work-life balance. If this trend continues, soon we are going to see an increase in the number of people with illnesses related to stress/fatigue etc. Besides, it could also be due to the fact that american workers have lesser bargaining power than workers in other nations. Again, I am not saying all of this is all good or bad. There are obvious benefits with our capitalist economy as well. Just that we need a good balance between approaches and currently, we are little outside of average, that's all. Whether that average is the right balance point, no one knows.

  21. Re:Can we dumb it down some more? on More Quantum Strangeness: Particles Separated From Their Properties · · Score: 5, Informative

This is what I understood. They first split the beams into upper and lower paths and filtered out the neutrons from the lower path using their spin state . They double checked this by using limiting/filtering neutrons on one of the paths each time and measuring the number of neutrons after re-combining and filtering out the lower path. This way they made sure that the neutrons coming out after re-combining and filtering must have taken the upper path. Then they applied magnetic field on both paths. But it seems like the neutrons which supposedly could only have come from the upper path had been affected by magnetic field from the lower path. This implies as if their "positions/mass" took one path while their spin took another?

There is no possibility of re-call and fix must be made really quick.
