  1. Never used any 8.1 apps from their store on Microsoft's Windows 8 App Store Is Full of Scamware · · Score: 4, Interesting

I don't know about other users but I've had an ASUS Windows 8.1 desktop for almost a year now and have never downloaded or installed ANY apps from the Microsoft "store" and have only once clicked on the App Store tile itself once by mistake. I avoid their "store" like the plague on a desktop environment. I don't have the need or want to Skype or play Angry Birds on the desktop I guess...who uses the Microsoft App Store and for what purposes? I'm genuinely curious...

  2. Re:Mozilla should consider doing the same for Fire on Microsoft Considered Renaming Internet Explorer To Escape Its Reputation · · Score: 1

I really like PaleMoon and am very glad this has been created. It's what Firefox WAS back in the version 3 and 4 days - read: lean, easy to use and fully customizable. It also has security updates to the codebase. All my extensions work just as they did in Firefox. The only thing I don't like about PaleMoon is that SpyBot Search and Destroy 1.6.2 (the old version because the 2.x version is a giant joke like Firefox has become) doesn't accept PaleMoon as being immunized and as such doesn't work with it as it did with Firefox. Though this sounds like a PR message, I'd really encourage those who hate Firefox to give PaleMoon a try. I am very happy I took the chance now and I'll never look back until Firefox becomes FireFix'ed and returns to their roots. Oh and Mozilla, no one wants your phones either especially now that you've butchered our favorite browser. Now if we could just convince the PaleMoon folks to update their website to something a 10 year old didn't code I think you'd see this catch on a lot more.

  3. Labor of love, not for profit on Interviews: James Cameron and John Bruno Answer Your Questions · · Score: 4, Insightful

I hope I'm proven wrong on this but I just can't see massive swaths of people going to see this at a local theater. I don't wish to be pessimistic, but it's not exactly screaming blockbuster. This is the "instant on", smartphone generation we're dealing with who have shorter attention spans than ever before. I just don't see this generating a lot of money so I sincerely hope this film is a labor of love with a deep desire to teach others because that's most likely what's going to happen. Having James Cameron's name attached to this is definitely a plus but is it enough to get the people out to see it in person? There's no explosions, car chases, sappy love stories or hot-bod naked people to draw in the easily amused lemmings after all. I mean, I'm going to attend the film because I have a high nerd factor for stuff like this and love to learn, and most likely you fellow /.'ers will too but I can't see large masses of people doing so. I think this will go right to 3D BluRay and Netflix as a documentary treading water on the fringe of importance (I wish Netflix did more 3D stuff too by the way but that's another rant). Am I right or am I wrong? Only time will tell I guess. But it's kind of sad statement of today's society if I do end up being right. Thoughts?

NETGEAR Nighthawk R7000 is the top of their list but it's the most expensive @ $188. The N900 is on that list too if AC isn't required and you're happy with N speeds. They'd save tonnes of cash and get many high end and comparable products taht are very respectable and powerful (DRAW, Painter, Photopaint - they could kill off Word Perfect finally). Hmmmm, OK, lets look at this from a reciprocal fashion - maybe if Adobe gets taken over by Microsoft...Apple buys Corel instead. They get an instant professional quality office suite and the graphic programs too. Not only that, they get to decide if they'll play only on Mac OS or on Windows. Anyhow, if Adobe gets bought out I'd keep an eye North of the border...Corel is ripe for the picking too.

That means "highly filtered" and/or reviewed by approved moderators of the court. If you are found breaking the rules, slap their pee pee's and throw them in jail too. At least jurors would be warned. What if I was on the jury of a long trial and I had to pay my bills online and no longer got my bill stubs the "paper way" but rather through email? Once you get your injection of heroine, you'll pretty much pass out or flake out, hell who knows what will happen to you but ya, the bag will do you in once you use up all your oxygen. 2) Pipe the CO into the plastic bag right along with taking your horse shot of poppy...hmmm, that might be tricky because you'll have to do that yourself with the bag already on your head...well if you're successful it should be a pleasant sleep you'll never wake up from...
