    it's just I don't think I need 22.5" and 9 millions of them....

    a 19" (or 20, with anything bigger I have to start moving my head at desk distance) 5mp would do. Not quite the density and not quite the size and hopefully REALLY not quite that prize...

    oh well, like so many things, just a few years away...;-)

    ...that digicams will produce in 2008 or whenever longhorn will hit the streets...:-)

    seriously though, try running noise removal software like neatimage over a batch of 6MP pics of today and you are glad you already have 2Gigs of ram on your machine and wish you had a 10Ghz cpu in there.

    or trying to keep all those 36MB photoshop files of the 1000s of pics you take and you'll understand how a few 100gigs of disk is quite limiting...;-)

    Considering that consumer ccd's have pixels for
    3 different colors and that the total count is
    advertised, while in the rovers case it's just
    1 million b/w pixel sensors and using 3 filters
    in front of the lens and making 3 pictures and
    mending them afterwards....

    in PR speak the rovers camera is more of a 3mp camera anyway....

    (kinda like the Foveon sensors)

    so yeah, one BIG explanation for the quality.

    The others being kick-ass lens (pros don't spend
    1000s of $ for a lense for nothing), and a bigger
    image sensor (each pixel is more light sensitive)

    great battery life????

    what are you talking about???? the new ipods have a battery life of a meager 8hours or something. The older ones were better(12 hours or so).

    The Rio Karma and other ones have 16hours..

    the battery life of the IPod is THE reason I haven't bought one yet. It just ain't enough...

    Actually according to TTT extended version DVDs, the AI's in the back just started running away from the battle. The reason being that they had programmed the AIs to start running in random directions if they coudn't see an enemy AI, hoping that like this the AIs would run into an ennemy sooner or later. If your AI is at the back of a 10000 people uruquai army, then this strategy won't really work, so they changed it...

    nothing to see here, move on....

    read in a few reviews of other mp3 players that
    some seem to sound consicerably better than the
    ipods (at least according to the reviewers).

    {Am by no means saying that the old ones sounded
    shite, only that there seems to be room for
    improvement, that's all.}

    So I was wondering if they improved on the sound
    output quality in addition to hd capacity and form
    factor and features...

    just curious...

    was wondering if anybody nows if they as well
    improved the sound output quality of the ipods!

    I read some reviews of other devices and
    apparently some of them seem to sound way
    better than the older ipods (at least according
    to the reviewers)....

    Don't think they sounded like shite to boot with,
    but would be cool if they improved on that as
    well...

    Pbase is a volunteer effort that was free until
    recently. They don't have ads, reasonably fast,
    use linux....

    no printing service though...

    I really liked it. A lot. Not really as
    good as the first one, but this one was
    harder to do (separate stories, locations).

    What is disturbing me now a bit is:
    Were those cheap shots to make people
    laugh really necessary. Gimli for example.
    Was it really necessary to turn a fierce
    dwarf warrior into a whiny fighting clown
    (am exagerating)....

    didn't ruin it by no means, but I think
    I would have preferred without it.

    I mean it's bloody LOTR. I don't expect
    to go there to laugh my butt off...

    Part of that problem can be solved by a
    tabbed terminal like multi-gnome-terminal.

    Does such a one exist for Mac OS X??

    I just reduced the number of virtual desktops
    to half with the tabbed terminal (8 now)

    One of those things that make you wonder, how
    you ever managed to work before you had it...

    I think the reason is even more fundamental.

    It's simply that nobody thinks in terms of
    prevention and roots/causes of illness,but
    only in terms of cures, symptoms relief...

    So all the money available is being
    channeled to cure research and none to
    cause/prevention research.
    (herbizides/pestizides/heavy metals/...
    nutrition and the like in the case of cancer)
