    The U.S. is a Republic, not a Democracy.

    And you are an idiot who doesn't understand what either mean.

    Its Apples and Cars - the two are different things that are not in contradiction.

    The USA has a presidency rather than a monarchy, that makes it a republic, the government is elected by the people that makes it a democracy (a representative democracy to be more precise). "Republic" and "democracy" are not alternatives to one another. A country can be both or neither or either one but not the other.

    Iraq, pre-war, was a non-democratic republic.
    The UK is a democratic monarchy.
    Saudi Arabia is a non-democratic monarchy.
    The USA is a democratic republic.

    I miss the old slashdot.

    Indeed - I do too - almost daily, since most of the time the "Message center" is a blank page, which does not list the messages - I have to run a script to disable the stylesheets to be able to see it.

    You miss the point, they are not making tv to be nice to you and would be satisfied with just a little profit - they want rip roaring mega big profit - which means they are going to try and sequeeze it as much as they can possibly get away with.

    If you download something, it's tracked, and you must then upload a comparable number in order to stay a member of that site or receive certain benefits of membership. This creates a healthy environment of seeders

    It also makes it easier fro the police to find out how much you have downloaded and easier calculate the fine.

    Enterprise and arc? Bullshit, they had one story they stretched out for 20 episodes, that's not an arc that's being incompetent - same for most other shows. I have yet to see anything which has a planned story like B5. Most of the time they don't because its a waste of money and the show might be cancled. (And don't say Lost - I don't believe they do anythiing but making in up as they go)
