    The most salient fact? About 10,000 people per day were dying per day in the Pacific theatre, mostly civilians in Japanese-occupied countries.

    That's just a number someone pulled out of his ass. The salient fact was they choose to nuke 100000 innocent civilians rather than make peace.

    You are right, I did read the article and saw that, I just forgot it again. They did sort of imply it and then retract, but I'm not sure that is enough to make a big deal out of it?

    Nobody has proved what little factual information they conveyed was false. As for their speculation, it seems all the more credible if Google starts to blackmail them.

    Slashdot is speculating as to the reason Google don't want to talk to CNet - but they offer no proof. Yes the article mentions Eric Schmidt, but it says a lot of other things as well, which is more likely to have annoyed them.

    But it is a dangerous way to be heading, trying to bully news people into submission.

    When people believe in crackpot notions that are not provable they can be dismissed if they are few and far between, but when they can nuke other countries they are indeed to be feared.

    Um, last time I checked, there are over 1 million unintended pregnancies among teens each year.

    Only in countries, like the US, where sex is taboo. Here they are taught about it in school, and there are so few they are not even a statistic.

    There are certain realities associated with sexuality and the human condition that transcend any laws, moral framework, or political affiliation.


    What ever that means. But humans want to have sex, and either you tell them how to do it safely or they'll get pregnant and die from aids, and its your fault. (Generally speaking ;)

    If I want to see earth from high above I'd use Google Earth... I don't really think its space unless you fly around the moon and the rings of saturn - and fast.. and we can't do that yet.

    It may be one hell of an achievemnt when they launch the space shuttle, but I can't help thinking "what a hunk of junk" when I see it flying - the burden of too many years of scifi I guess...

    I wonder how important someone's browser settings are to them.

    Very, and not just settings, its general behaviour. I test new browsers for 5-10 minuttes before ditching them because they come in short in some areas.

    What do you mean "Of course"? That's the number one thing not to do (unless you are another incompetent fool, then its the number one thing to do of course). They are supposed to be relative, because not only do we all use different resolutions but our eye sight is also different. You should read up on HTML and how to do it right.

    It destroys the layout but the text becomes larger.

    When a font is specified as ABSOLUTE it is not SUPPOSED TO BE SCALABLE - MSIE is doing it right unfortunately.

    There are hundreds of ways to screw up when you've broke the law. They just need one break. You need a perfect record of not making one.
