    i asked myself the very same question when i first read this article.

    but then i also do not understand why people still keep buying devices, where "they" can remotely delete files (ebooks) on that same device, without your consent. this is exactly the same as "them" sending a burglar to your house and steal one book, because "they" think that book is not appropriate for you.

    you wouldn't be happy with that now, would you?

    google for "amazon erases orwell books from kindle".

    you do not need a flash player to watch youtube videos.

    smplayer v0.7.0 can play youtube videos just fine.

    Support for youtube. Now you can open urls like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=..... using the Open -> URL dialog or dragging a link from a browser to the smplayer window.

    If you don't honor the small, you're not worth the big.

    But then don't worry - the Dutch (and the Finns too) don't accept 1 and 2 Eurocent coins for payments anymore either.

    And while you're at it - just abolish all cash payments. Governments would love that!

    instead of this lame javascript crap, wikipedia should have properly blacked out the site with an ".htaccess" file:

    but i guess you're right - unfortunately - money is more important than standing up for your rights.

    I really hope publishers cave in and figure out a way of pricing things better.

    it's not just pricing. it's method of payment too.

    where is the ebookstore that i can go to with my cash and my usb stick, buy a pdf ebook and read it at home with okular or evince or whatever pdf reader i choose.

    not everybody has a credit card. actually - i think one can safely say that most people in the world do not have a credit card. so why haven't companies learned that and adjusted their way of doing business accordingly.
