  1. This isn't about Bittorrent on US Lawmakers Set Sights On P2P Programs · · Score: 1

The people who are too dumb to understand which folder's contents are being shared aren't using bittorrent, they are using something like LimeWire. Inadvertent sharing isn't really a problem with torrents, but it can be with older protocols like Gnutella.

It seems that 'geeks', 'gamers' and 'youths' generally can't seem to understand that when you complain rudely, the powers-that-be aren't going to listen.

Many of us hear on /. feel that all complaints are ignored by politicians unless they are complaints linked to an politician's income source. Whether the complaint is kindly worded or not makes absolutely no difference. Rational discussion appears to have little place in modern politics.

Bear in mind it only shows IE8 equitably. Even Microsoft would prefer to see people upgrade off IE6 or IE7. That's pretty big in and of itself, no? (ok, for security concerns obviously it's a great idea, but to pretty well force everyone to take notice that they should be running something other than IE6 or IE7 ...)

This ballot screen is for Windows 7, and neither IE6 nor IE7 have ever been available for this OS.

If age was a more significant factor than experience, wouldn't we have raised the driving age?

That would be too sensible for the USA to do. We should allow drinking alcohol at age 16/18 and driving at age 21.

The main obstacle to this more sane policy is the fact that those 16,17, and 18 year olds need a car to get to their job at the fast food place. Business trumps all other considerations, of course.

The new memory models in recent OS's try to utilize all the available RAM (as they should) to speed up things otherwise.

The original name of the colony was a variant of "North Fork", but accounts differ on the exact name: "Northfork", "Nor'fork", and "Nordfork" are all suggested. The name was submitted to federal postal authorities, and at some point was transmuted to "Norfolk". The pronunciation "Norfork" is still used by many Nebraskans.

They should change the spelling to match the pronunciation.
