It would be the equivalent of Microsoft giving away a Linux distribution "MS Linux" that crashes often, doesn't run most of the GNU programs (gcc included), has a different set of C libraries with their own quirks, and uses a really old version of Gnome as a fixed, non-configurable GUI.
By the same token, perhaps Windows is a plot by the Free Software Foundation that backfired?
Harnessing 1% of the 13000 Terawatts (not terrawatts, funny pun though) would mean covering at least 1% of the surface of the Moon with solar panels. That is about 380000 square kilometers, larger area than Germany.
This does not take into account that half of the arrays would be on the dark side of the Moon at any given moment.
Good thing finally about spam. I suspect half of the spam I get is sent by spammers residing in the U.S.A, so any steps to make spammers pay is good.
What is bad about spam is that it is getting worse every month, but what is good about spam is that it is so bad already that even lawmakers and law enforcement officials are getting hopping mad and maybe we finally get rid of spammers.
Would weapons restrictions apply for those flying cars? If they become commonplace, terrorist need not bother with hijacking airplanes, just getting some cars and loading them full of casoline is enough of a missile for crashing into buildings.
Furthermore, I can't see that those cars could be successfully flown by any less training that is currently needed for a pilots license. By successfull I mean flying without getting killed or destroying property.
The bug is in the New Scientist article. The character that looks like a minus sign is actually soft-hyphen, and Netscape is clever and displays it after a space, but IE performs "correctly" and does not display a soft hyphen in the middle of a line.
What does the article mean by IP sharing device? I undertand the DSL customer could install a router between his/her subnet and the DSL box, or maybe a device doing NAT, but IP sharing?
150 Mbit/sek is like one hundred T1 connections.

Any idea how much heat Parhelia generates? By the looks of that heatsink I can not put that monster in my already too hot rig.
Any manufaturer interested in developing a cool-running video chip?
