I can't believe the parent got flamebait either...
I read about half of Peridido. I also did not like it enough to finish it. Though some of the concepts were neat, the characters were totally unbelievable and I never empathized with any of them.
I loved the extra scenes from FotR, because they added parts of the book that have been removed to make the movie shorter.
Unfortunately for Two Towers, the movie version is so different that the book, extra scenes won't do anything to fix all the story changes already made. Those story changes are one of the main reasons I did not like TT much.
Though this is a late post, I still say: overworked and underpaid... sounds like you need to organize a union. Sad part is that almost no computer industry jobs are unionized.
I really love The Sandman comics, but Gaiman has disappointed me with both books I've read by him: American Gods and Neverwhere. Both were above average reads, but nothing spectacular. His best book is Good Omens, but he co-authored that with Terry Pratchett. However, it is one of the funniest books I have ever read (right up there with the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books).
I understand that most of todays games are playable, but Nvidia is misleading its customers with the MX brands. They have less graphical features then their TI cousins, and there is a reason they cost less.
For example, when I had a Geforce 3 TI200, and the Geforce 4 MX came out, a site like this might suggest to upgrade. However, from their own internal numbering system, the geforce 4mx is, I believe, a Nvidia 15, whereas the G3 ti200 was like a Nvidia 17. The Geforce 4 4200 TI is number 20 or some such.
The Geforce TIs also use DDR memory, whereas the Geforce MX use single rate memory. There is a signicificant difference between the TI and MX in frames per second, and this matters if you are in a FPS clan and in active leagues. The MX just doesn't cut it for 10 players on the screen in UT2003.
How is this really news? There are many many sites that have system guides updated once a month... is this site that much better of a system guide?
The first priority for a gamer, especially a FPS gamer, should be a good video card. However, their first suggestion listed is a Geforce 4 MX 440 over a TI 200, then they don't even provide benchmarks for the Geforce 4 MX? And for that matter, why would any self respecting FPS gamer buy a MX card of any type from Nvidia when the TIs are so much better?
I guess this is needed since writing to elected officials only produces auto replies... so hopefully this does more to represent the will of the people.
But the cynic in me thinks the millions that lobbys spend will cancel out any good this site does.
The idea of splitting a company just isn't part of the current corporate thinking. Article after article in business magizines are devoted to merging companies, but nary a one devoted to intelligently unmerging.
Though we may see that very soon when Time Warner decides it has had enough of AOL losing money;)
haha, the first time I went to England, my English friend made sure I didn't say "fanny pack" more than once (as I was wearing one), because fanny means something entirely different there;)
Neo save us!!!

Anyone else find it ironic that all the recent g5 stories are labeled with the picture of the g4 chip? =)
