    They had the cool black case? No Wires, supposedly you could go up to six feet away WITH obstruction?

    I was working at Price CLub when they came out. Sold about 200 in two weeks, 210 came back.

    Got a G4 (is it a coincidence that the $ is above the 4, I think not) and I REALLY thought anout one of those cool LCD screens and then I remembered, they suck; but my 19" Sony does not.

    Further I said screw it and got OSX think, hey I like Linux, I'll like this.

    Wrong.

    --I think Open Source is a great idea. I don't know too many people making $ off of it but AbriaSoft and NuSphere com to mind.

    --If I write some software and it's good and it works and I get paid for it, what precisely is my reason for giving the source code away? Why should I allow anyone to use my source code?

    --Sure lots of arguments can be made that I didn't invent C (or Perl, or python, or whatever I wrote it in) so I didn't really invent anything b/c I am just using what is already availble to create some money making thing.

    --Should Anti Virus Software be Open Source? Encryption software? SpamBots?

    --I am not getting this. I don't see MS saying, "No one should ever show anyone their source code."

    --As for the other threads here about how hard it is to learn Perl. They're all hard. Perl, Python, C, Hell .bat files can be hard.

    Sell 1 year licenses. No effing upgrades, it's all on the server. Go a company, MS sells you an Office Server. Need 250,000 people on it great here's the box all you users can log into the appo with a shortcut.

    I'm all for it.

    Life WOULD be easier if everyone just used Office.

    I get paid pretty well and no one really understands my job so I can do pretty, much whatever I want, like the time I made the file server Linux just 'cos I thought it would be cool. (It wasn't that cool)

    Say they write it out in with a drop D but it is really a STD tuning (see also Dem Bones) you'll "never" play it right.

    I know when it is wrong, I neversaid i couldn't play it b/c it was wrong. I said it was wrong. Very diff't.

    OK assuming there's only 88 Standard notes (see also the piano Keyboard) then if i copyright the key of C can i claim that everyones else is just transposing my work?

    Languages are based on standard rules etc, yet books continue to be copyrighted.

    What's wrong with that?

    I love my job. I love what I do. Subsequently I do it really well and malke a lot of cash in the process. I want people like that with me.

    While dot coms crash and burn my company is expanding. Now there's 400 people who love what they do. There would be 450, but 50 (or so) of them didn't "get it."

    Guess what we rarely work more than 10 hours. In fact a lot of my crew leaves after 8.5. Life is good. Maybe even for that Janitor.

    I tell every single person I hire, "You gotta be in love with computers to do this everyday. You have to go home and play with your computer to be part of this IT team."

    I don't care about certs or any of that stuff. Has the person ever set up a UT server...in Linux? just to see if they could? Does the phrase Pirates! bring a gleam to their eye? Are they Perl or Python ( or better both?) Are they bashing Microsoft for a reason or because they think it is cool? Do they call them animals or O'Reilly's?
