My thing Is I just prefer Nautilus over Dolphin.. I realize you can install Nautilus in KDE.. but it just a little weird. There's alot about GNOME I do NOT like. Hence I use Fedora Cinnamon spin. The problem with GNOME is they keep wanting to have a ui that for something other than desktops... Everyone wants it as a desktop. I don't lay awake at night hoping for tablet running GNOME. I do wish GNOME would be more desktop friendly. I actually ran Elementary OS for a bit, however they really dumbed that distro down, so back to Fedora.
Bingo we have a winner.. At work if we have a choice the developers use Linux and the customize the UI the way they want it... Usually a Gnome 2 , a KDE ( like windows with the menu and apps pinned to the bottom) or similar interface. I realize all the hipsters think this minimalist ui with a very small, dull color palette is cool, but it isn't. It's very limiting and very boring and 99% of the users are not hipsters... so we are not impressed..

Id be happy with something similar to what PC's offer. I Have an athlon64 3200, 1 gig ram, DVD RW and 160gig hard drive. I bought 18 months ago for $495 with XP on it. It now has Ubuntu on it. Why should I have to pay almost $700 for a crappy little mac mini with half the memory and hard drive space and no Keyboard or Mouse?? I know I can hook up any old USB keyboard and Mouse to it but for 700.00 you would think they could include those? Form factor should not cost and arm and a leg.

the ATC is much of the FAA. To be be specific the ATO, air tracfic organization is like 80% of the FAA. The are other Groups AVN (Aviation Systems and Standards) who actully create flight procedures, there about 14,000 flight procedures that tell pilots how to land and take off from every airport in the US, as well as layout the air routes. This is very very complex. Where do Old ATC go ???? they leave the ATO and move to AVN and work on flight procedures. Also the FAA maintains a small fleet of aircraft that flight inspect all of these flight procedures to make sure they are accurate. It would not be efficent to split these up.
IN fact the group that does flight inspections is also CONTINOUSLY upgrading thier aircraft to test out new avionics, They gut and rebuild all the time. Manufacturers don't put in the avionics till the FAA tests them out in thier flight inspection planes. In fact the FAA shop where they do this is one of the few places that can tear aircraft down to the airframe rebuild them and then have expertise to recertify the aircraft, most other shops, the Manufactuer must recertify the aircraft. To write off the FAA is stupidity.
O BTW for all this talk of the Great European ATO... The FAA creates the flight procedures and flight inspects them for half of Europe... And ARE PAID TO DO SO..... Also when the Space Shuttle lands, they use Flight procedures Created and inspected by the FAA as well.
