    It's called consipracy....

I don't really know the law exactly, but if the person running a company that the goverment views as a monoply (ie M$), asks another seperate company to do or NOT DO something, based on thier postion as CEO of said company ( do you think Andy Grove would listen to you or me?) then that can be viewed as illegal. If they had serious discusions about it, say more that yes or no than that is Collusion and conspiracy.

All of this assumes the current Administration would actully do something about it, which they won't. So the guy probably has a case in civil court, too bad the goverment doesn't actully enforce the laws equally.

Those (byte and shopper) were for enthusiasts, not middle managers, so by destroying them you in turn alienate the audience you intended to 'buy'... Besides it's well known most Middle managers are illiterates and there are only so many 'shiny' magazines with pretty pictures they can look at in one trip to toilet.

I mean I know quite a few folks that went back and got nursing degrees, after the nuclear winter of 9/11 and are now making 35$ to 40$ hr ( to start for an rn ). Is it any wonder?

I bought 3 of these files recently, not from Yahoo, but another well known co. They were the WMA format. Once I got them I wanted to burn them to CD, well you can't. On top of that the next day I ran the Windows Media player, I got some message that it was 'updating my catalog' or some such nonsense. After that the WMA files would'nt play, said they could'nt find the codec. I called and emailed the place I bought if from, they said it was a windows problem, sent me to M$, they said it was a problem with the place I bought it from. This went back and forth for a couple of days.

Finally I called the CC company and asked them. The nice lady said it sounded like a defective product, she asked if the company I bought it from refused to take care of it. I said yes, she said no problem and struck the charges from my bill.

I downloaded iTunes I ( i don't have an iPod) bought my 3 songs.... and there's a big ole burn CD button on the right top of itunes app!!!! I burned my CD and guess what 1 week later I can play my songs in iTunes, I can play my CD... I know iTunes is DRM'd, but it works as opposed to the Crappy MS wma files with thier server resident codecs.

I'm sure M$ will get thier stuff working correctly in a couple of years, after they have more closely ripped of Apple (as usual). But I like iTunes because it works the way it's advertised. When will companies learn that.

I think this is more a return to sanity, than a great evolution in space craft. After all the basic tech hasn't changed all that much.

The shuttle was too big and expensive and had to be basically rebuilt after every mission.

What nasa needs is a reliable, relativly cheap modular space craft(s) that can be bolted to gether for different missions. Orbit, Moon Mars .... really all the CEV is a way for folks to get to and from orbit. the lunar and Mars space craft will undoubtly be assembled in orbit from modules, and carry along a CEV docked on the side to the astronauts can return to earth after it's over.

So it probably will be nothing impressive, the big thing will be reliablility and operational costs ( or less of them).
