The biggest problem for IE is the Active X crap. There are so many expliots for it that it's vitually impossible for MS to fix it. Once an active X control is installed it then has complete access to your PC. With FireFox's white lists and the fact it doesn't support ActiveX immediately makes it more secure. Sure people will find exploits, but so far patches for FireFox have appeared faster the IE.
Thats the real reason Bush doesn'nt want stem cell research. We all know as soon as those pesky stem cells start mutiplying they'll be trading songs, movies and software over p2p networks.
The only way to stop that is BAN STEM CELL RESEARCH......

Those little moochers should have to pay for that too, and don't get me started on the school lunch program, instead of offering meals for a buck or two we should have private corporations in there charging $5 or $6 bucks a meal, thats the going rate, after all the corporate masters need thier million dollar bonuses.
While we're at it why do states provide services for the elderly, I mean come on if they are too poor and old to be able to pay the going rate to XYZ retirement community then shoot them in the head and use them for land fill.

I've known serveral people who have worked for ATT in the last 10 years in alot of different capacities. ATT has made one inept decision after another and thrown billions away (comcast anyone) They have been circling the toliet bowl of death for several years..... they are one flush away from being broken up into pieces and sold away for cash...
Truly disgusting. They have outsourced massivly to india the supposed paneca of profit, cut your labor costs to the bone and everything will be ok!!! They still hemorage cash. Unfortunately they should've outsourced the CEO and board to India too, maybe they would still be relevant.
Sad to see a once great ICON of innovation become what it has today... But hey the CEO's made thier millions and thats all that counts anymore right!!!!

I know alot folks that have already shifted, they bought laptops... I thought about that, but really want a small formfactor PC. In the x86 small form factor PC's can be expensive. I have a nice (19 in) LCD screen, so something like the Mac Mini might be just what I'm looking for.
I like BSD, I like the size.
BTW for Keyboards you can buy a USB converter on ebay for like $5 that takes in a standard PC keyboard and Mouse and converts it to USB and it comes with Mac OSX drivers.
Are these the same mental Midgets that did the exit polling after the presidantal elections?? They seem to have the same basic problem with the idea that the population cannot be > 100%.

I knew about AIX -L , but i had never heard an confirmation officially that L stood for linux. If so that's very cool.
I mean Sun Created Java and they don't have a credible Java app server (I know iPlanet with it's whopping 2% market share) the big boys are Wepshere, BEA, Oracle and Jboss......
If Sun wants all this then they need open up java, and try to make Solaris more compaible with 3rd party products (JBoss anyone). It's more than hypocritical, it shows there is some desperation on Suns part. The Ultra-Sparc line is Ultra Slow and Ultra priced. If IBM were to start turning out PowerPC based Risc Boxes running Linux, would Sun even be relevant? I know about all of Solaris's great OS features, but how long will it take Linux to catch up? Especially with the other big boys pushing linux.
Now add to that these new Cell CPU's IBM & Sony are making. A Linux Server with a big cluster of Cell processors, Sun Who??
and 0 to save the hubble. Maybe someone should tell W that the 10 commandments are ingraved on the side, he'd never know the difference.

Being employed by REAL fortune 500 companies I can assure you IBM has a Huge investment in Linux Software ( they are phasing out AIX in the next 12 months) Just because they don't make a Linux Distro, doesn't mean they are'nt a linux Co. Last Co I worked for, you could go in the data center and see rows & rows & rows of rack mount IBM servers in cases all running Linux and some other IBM software DB2, Tivoli etc.....
Thier new Cell processors, guess what OS they will be running them on, YUP linux.
Go back to playing half life2 or whatever in your parents basement. If you don't think IBM has bet the bank on Linux then you need to get out more.
Their Super Computing cluster??? Only runs Linux.
Now thats not what they sell, but they are moving quickly to a linux only model. The Co I used to work for, they cried never Linux on desktops, now IBM is pushing them in that direction. The Company is a well known fortune 500 company, with Billions in Assets and Income.

Americans are not rich, I don't work, my family is living on the street. As far as the millions of Indians go, sure there are those that can probably do what I do, and do it better, but so far I haven't run across any that are 'better' some are just as good, but not better. As far as the run in the mill call center person they are completely useless.
I had SWB dial up for a while and a software upgrade from swb cause my pc to be unable to log on the first time but if I tried to reconnect, it would do it. I spent 12 f**kin hours over a 7 day period on the phone with Indian tech support. They wanted me to download new modem drives (same setup unchanged for 18 months) so I did, turns out the 'new' drivers were exactlty the same as the ones I had. They wanted me to buy a new modem, which I did, it behaved the same way and I returned. Another one wanted me to buy a new Video card. I told them my video was built into the MB. They were nice but useless. I canned SWB got Cox Cable Modem, had a problem connecting. Got ahold of a Lady in Alabama she had the problem fixed in less than 3 minutes.
I've met dozens of people who have equally horrific experiences dealing with Indian tech support from ATT to symantec.
You tell me who is 'better'. This delusion everyone has that Indians as whole are better is unfounded. They are cheaper thats it. Thats all american companies care about is cheaper. Anything so the CEO can another few million in compensation out for himself.
Please I haven't seen any Indians who can do my job better than I. In most cases it isn't as good, however they can work 5$ an hour I can't. So even If I can do the job of 3 indians, it's still cheaper to hire 4 or 5.
Thing is with American middle class losing thier jobs who will buy Overpriced American products ( they stay overpriced because the CEO's must still make Multi-Multi million dollar pay checks)
I don't see Indian Programmers making $5K a year standing in line to buy $2000.00 MayTag fridges and $30,0000 ford/Chevy/dodge SUV's.... etc. etc.
We are already seeing the short sightedness of all this Look at the stock market it is contiually weak, in spite of the fact that we have been in a 'recovery' for 3 years. Why, because consumer demand isn't as strong. Well when you are destroying good jobs and replacing them with lowing paying jobs, people are not rushing out to buy non-essential crap. Add rising health insurance rates which no one in the US wants to do anything about.
If the Indians think they are so great now, just wait, there is No great love for them here in the States, As soon as the Chinese or Africans or whomever can do the job cheaper, the Indians will be left with a bunch of vacant Call Center/Tech Centers and rising unemployed middle class. What will they do then, Nothing they have nothing to sell anyone wants other than the fact they were cheaper, for a while. To boot they will have left behind some major bad will on the part of the American public....
All the 'Free Market' fans here (everyone is free market till they lose thier job, house etc....) will be on the Chinese/African..... band wagon.

Or does this seem like a colossal waste for a few hours of data. If I read it correctly the probe will gather a few hours of data (if they are lucky) and stream it back to the Cassini orbiter which beams it back to earth and then after Cassini goes on about it's way and the probe is left on the surface stream data, that no one is listening to, till it dies????
Would it have been that much more money to inlcude a small orbiter that would relay the probes data back, so if lives a few days, we would get that much more data back???
