    If it is a common problem, it would be worthy of a recall, if it is exceptionally rare and not related to the design of the brakes, it won't.

    Even if their headquarters are in Canada, if they do business in the US, they are subject to US law.

    The difference being that the negative attention to United was related to problems with their product instead of problems with their advertising.

    People already accept that the brakes might fail causing them to go barreling into such a hazard. As long as the AI controlled cars are significantly safer, as indicated by the lower insurance costs, people will accept them. However, the difference has to be significant, a 10% reduction in insurance probably wouldn't do it, if it was 75% though, it might.

    In what a human would consider a crisis, it is unlikely that even if the human were paying attention that they would realize that they needed to take over in time to actually act. However, there are circumstances like construction or weather where an AI may not be equipped to perform the needed actions and would need to pull over until a human could take over.

    The only way it will work out in the long run is if it is B and the insurance on the car covers all damages for less cost to the consumer than a normal car.

    If the kids are controlling their use at home, they aren't as addicted as the ones the article is talking about. If they aren't controlling their use at home, some parental supervision is warranted.

    Some words should be more associated with one gender than the other. Body parts and clothing in particular come to mind.

    However, even if the factors that make minorities more risky are already accounted for, an AI may be biased against them because the training data contained a correlation between race and perceived risk.

    That's not an argument for ending the commission. That's an argument for replacing the members interfering with its function.

    Or they could end the commission and create a new committee that has a similar function with a more balanced point of view.

    His administration hasn't had much of an effect, the fact that he was elected president on a platform of slowing illegal immigration and reducing regulation has had a profound effect. People are reacting to what they think he will do, not what he has done.

    I suspect we did better when we voted for electors, (better in the vote for president, not the vote for electors) but it'd be hard to be sure about that.

  22. It's a different sort of results oriented. People want a good leader, so they look at the ones with the greatest results and look for one that is similar. Unfortunately, this is a very biased sampling, resulting in selecting people that take risks for large gains rather than ones that are actually good at leading.

    The biggest successes tend to be charismatic leaders because they are high-risk high-reward choices. If you want to be the best, a charismatic leader might get you there. If you want to be better than you are, a humble leader is a more sure path.

    My biggest problem with socialism in the US is that the people arguing for it the loudest are also the people arguing for open immigration.
