You are probably right, but the PSP was Sonys first handheld, I would expect mistakes, unfortunately those mistakes probably killed the PSP. Movies were too expensive and added nothing to the DVD's I already owned. I couldnt copy a DVD I already owned to a memory stick and watch it (I think this is the one thing that really hurt the PSP). Load times were way too long. And a plethora of other problems.
Sony now has 2 very successful console releases, and I have to assume they are taking what they learned from the PS and PS2 and applying it to the PS3. I keep getting this feeling that Sony is making these statements then sitting back and chuckling while the analysts freak out at the statements. Of course I am also not forgetting that Sony has been acting pretty freaky lately.

This is creating an atmosphere were the people who are actually interested in developing cures are unable to enter the market because of the high costs associated with entering the pharmaceuticle industry, thus stifling innovation and causing the drug companies to sit on their collective asses reaping the profits from drugs that have no real purpose other than to make them more money (see viagra). Do you actually think the polio vaccine would see the light of day today? I dont, what we would see is an increasing number of treatments that make people feel good, but only for a short time so that they have to buy another pill from the drug company. Dont kid yourself, the drug companies are only interested in getting you dependent on their drugs so you have to keep giving them money. They are not concerned citizens trying to improve the health of humanity.

Massive cutbacks in education spending is assuring that our educational institutions dont have the funding they require to produce the science the engineers in industry use to create the "next big thing". As Chinese and Indian corporations become more independent of the west you will the "next big thing" coming from there, and the west falling farther and farther behind. It wouldnt suprise me if countries like France and America started resembeling the very countries they are enabling to become the new "first world" nations today.

They were suppose to go to market shortly after the movie opened, in what would have been probably the best movie/product tie-in ever. But like all really good toys, parents groups and the moral right got the distribution of them banned before Mattel was able to go to market with them. Actually this is one of the incidents that started the "think of the children" mantra they love to spew when they are afraid of something.

Actually most marines I have met do tend to take life more lightly than others. But the problem is not that they are all a bunch of uneducated hicks (like the parent suggests). The problem is that the marines brain-wash their soldiers into being killing machines. This isnt so bad in time of real war (if it were 1965, Iraq would be classified as a "police action", but that term is not popular anymore). The problem is that Iraq requires finesse, which marines are not taught (they are taught to kill their enemy at all costs). You use marines to take a military objective you then use the army to hold that objective so the marines can go and capture the next flag. This is just more proof that the powers that be have no clue as to what they are doing, and will lead us into folly. The other problem with marines, that is only slightly related to this is that when they are done being marines they are de-programmed. So the marines are creating these killing machines, then just letting them loose on their own society when they are done with them.
