Heh, Tim Sweeney, is an insect compared to Carmack. I own Unreal, so i'm not bias here. Sweeney's game didn't run all that smooth, sure it had a lot of better graphics, but guess what... it game out quite a bit after quake 2. The networking code was broken as hell when it came out, I don't think they have OpenGL support in yet, and its not portable.

Yeah, i heard some fluff about Tim porting Unreal to linux... big deal, its not happening from what i know.

Nah, Timmy is good, but Carmack is god.

Actually, MS does have its uses.
Personally, I'm the sort that things all operating systems should be opensource. But, IMO, if your not making a OS, then go ahead with whatever you want. So what i'm saying is that i would love to see windows but utterly destroyed (I know, i'm not holding my breath), but MS can continue making apps, and thats fine by me.

Companies should be limited to what they can do, make an closed source OS? no apps (this means you Microsoft). making hardware? Hell no (This means you Apple). When i say Opensource i mean 100% opensource, i mean like BSD or Linux. None of this ASPL darwin crap.

That we are saying is that now we have absolute freedom, we are not going to trade it away. I like not having to pay for upgrades. I like not having to worry about my vendor ripping me off. I would remind you of the Blender GL problem a while back, shit like that doesn't happen to us now.

BTW, i own a copy of BeOS, i'm the guy who loves to play with new os's, I used it for a good while to, its fast and clean. Its a good OS, I honestly rather like it. But its going to restrict me freedoms, so i'm gonna forget it.
