I would prefer to shop this way! Yes, I'm yelling...:)
I'm a fat guy with very little time to shop. Groceries; online, office supplies; online, media; online, etc; online...
Clothing? Nope, gotta go to a store. Why, you ask? Because clothes aren't static. They vary so much between vendors that I can't guarantee a good fit without spending exhorbitant amounts of cash. "Just buy from the same vendor" Can't, my weight fluctuates. Enough so, that when I'm ready to purchase new clothes--every 2-3 years--I'm physically different.
An adjustable, digital model would be ideal. Private and expedient. Just get naked, look in a mirror and match it with controls for the model.
You may not like being honest about how you look, but at least you won't have to try the stuff on in fitting rooms.
Before Apple colluded with publishers to offer books at a significantly higher price than Amazon et al., were doing, there wasn't any problem with the existing structure.
This is troubling. One of the most important aspects of being a teacher is being able to tailor instruction based on the unique perspective of the student.
As an example, two students present two WILDLY different interpretations of the same material. It takes a more personalized approach to be able to correctly rationalize the origin of either the miscalculation or the brilliant, new solution. Without taking the time to understand, to really understand, how that persons mind works, you won't be giving them the education they deserve.
Online courses can be a godsend for some, but for most ends up being a frustrating and lacking experience.
I guess it boils down to is, do you want to pay for an education or a piece of paper.
Remember, many online "universities" will gladly sell you a doctorate for the right price. And you need never attend a single class.
In ten years we could have scientifically proven "homeopathic" remedies.
Gene-doping through diet manipulation. Lose weight, increase brain function, increase blood flow while reducing blood pressure, even creating or discovering new gene functions. Perhaps a mutation that gives blood plasma a lubricating effect that prevents arterial plaque.
Or, for the vain men (and women) in the audience, truly reversing hair loss.
This is a terrible execution of a seemingly fantastic idea. McAffee(sp?) is known for accidentally hosing untold numbers of business machines with 1 (yes, one) update! How can we allow them this much control over our compute environment?
Also, this would appear to be why Intel had to have McAffee. Antivirus on die? Pretty much the definition of CISC.
Well, here's to updating your antivirus and accidentally bricking your CPU.
One problem, you forgot the monthly "App"(lication) purchase minimum.
If you choose to NOT download at least 3 programs from Apple's Official Store you accept the remote "monitoring and cleansing" of your iDevice. This, of course, is done to keep YOU safe from viruses. You're welcome.
Whaaaaaaa...
That's the sound of you protecting Apple...
Just like the rest of the zealots.
"Don't buy my product if you're not hip and cool, it'll lessen my brand. Whaaaaaa!!"
Kristian Høgsberg has been at the forefront for a while now. Imagine pulling an Apple/MS/Linux coup.
"Subvert the dominant paradigm."
That was my favorite saying (20 years ago). I'm happy to see ANYONE doing it.
X has been the "paradigm" for so long that no one WANTED to challenge it.
Kudos Kristian.
I feel like a second-grader learning calculus.
When I learned calculus, I was in 9th grade . My 7th grade son is already learning statistics and discrete functions.
I was born 30 years too soon.
I took AP Physics! Where was my Ising model, Hamiltonion operator, or Eigenvalues?
Why must I suffer for being born too soon?
I live with Poland's Syndrome and (even though I love life and would hate to have something harder to deal with) I would love to be able to replace my non-functioning side with this.
Yes, I have a hand and arm, but I can't wait till the day when I can use it like everyone else.
I just hope they have all the connecting bits strong enough. Not having full use of that side of my body for so many years has to be compensated for in order to account for the extra strain.
I imagine that Austrian guy must be ecstatic to be able to open a bottle or tie his shoes again.
It's called the mob mentality. I read about it in 5th grade. "To Kill a Mockingbird" was an excellent book.
I'm going to see if I can get a grant to study "The Effects of Televised Sports as a Deterrent for Revolution". I just hope no one remembers anything before 1980 and I'll be all set.
Every fanboy is going to post. Apple, Linux, and (yes) Windows.
Eventually every system, connected to other systems and used by humans, will be compromised. It's how those compromises are dealt with that is the measure of the system. Security through obscurity only works until someone realizes you're there.
Fix the holes or be ridiculed for being shite!
Microsoft continuously releases security patches, Linux requires a few patches (including updates), and EVENTUALLY Apple will release security updates to combat this problem.
Apple needs to face reality and fix security holes quickly. When you pander to the "lowest common denominator", you need to treat them as such. Damn! It just dawned on me, that's why there's an "App Store" for Macs. Security via a police state.
Never mind.
Cheers Apple, may you never lose your zealots. (Yes, sarcasm)

C'est la vie...
Looks like it's time for that revolution.
Damn, and here I was hoping to never have to befriend an extremist militia.
Moving to Canada or Australia sounds good, but, like they say, "the grass is always greener".

I wish I had the mod points! That made me laugh! Thanks!
That's significant! 4 years in a federal prison (ass rape, etc...) for what amounts to a computer crime.
Definitely not hitting "replay all" ever again!!

How would bundling a TV with AppleTV and iTunes NOT be anti-competitive?
'Nuff said!
HAHAHAHA!

New plan: Create internet phenomenon and use ensuing "cred" to live my dreams!
Shenanigans!! Double shenanigans!
This is why I hate gambling!
What is the penalty if they had erred on the side of caution and had been wrong? Loss of job? Loss of reputation?
It would have cost millions to plan, evacuate, etc...
Holding people liable for an act of nature is a dangerous precedent.
Yikes!

The Huffington Post does not pay the authors of their stories. They are owned by Arianna Huffington, new owner of AOL.
Evil...
Done...
Edit: GITS:SAC.
Damn you! Delicious, delicious beer! Slowing my wits and editorial skills...
I am blown away by the Vernian accuracy of Gibson, Sterling, et al... Was it truly prognostication, life imitating art, or an inevitable outcome....
I know The Laughing Man isn't character by either of those authors, but a character of a similar vein none-the-less...
Wish I had some mod points. This sounds like a damn fine plan.
One caveat, 10+ devices with NAT.
