I was actually making the point that TIA is only the beginning...Once the govt has a tools to destroy anyone they want lives what'll stop the corp.s from getting them etc...
It will become an everyday item...the only problem is how will it be stopped...TIA is only the originating station not the final destination
Technology has a way of making the world feel smaller: Trains, Steamships, automobiles, airplanes and now googling (ridiculously easy and efficient datat-mining).
If you live in a small enough town, everyone knows everyone elses business...
When you remove the distance that geography or caste once maintained you are left with a very small planet where everyone may not know everyone else...but if they need to they can dig up any amount of dirt on you they want.
TIA is an initial step towards a decentralized type of always on information about anyone you could ever want...
And the only people who will be safe will be those without govt assigned ID (which means no CC's no ID's no Bank statements etc..) and the insanely wealthy...those who can afford to keep their sins a secret.
The M$ dominated world is quickly coming to an end and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. For your own sake, wake up before you become entirely obsolete.
Duh-duh-duh... Looks like someone forgot to get his daily allotment of bran this morning...
I can just hear the voice of Orson Welles as I read this warning me of the impending doom...or maybe one of those bible-belt you're-all-going-to-hell-faith-healers...
Well, that's just too damn bad isn't it... In order to maintain our "American Way" of life we have to be pro-active... The Isrealis are re-active and look at them...very little land...very little in the way of a "superior" lifestyle... The Isreali Army is one of the best in the world at defending itself...but it's never pro-active (I'm not sure why this is: religious, social, etc...) So it never gains any real advantage but this may very well be the intention.
Most American military initiatives are about reminding people that we aren't gonna take any shit. Switzerland has a no-war policy for this and are generally left alone but they aren't the super-power (financially or otherwise) that America has become. Japan is a financial power to be reckoned with but no one will mess with them because they make 90% of everything electronic that most of the world uses (thanks to the US). China makes a ton of products but people leave them alone because even without a technologically superior military if you arm 2 billion people with steak knives and send them against 100 million with guns I gaurantee you there'll be a billion chinese eating steak that night (presuming they're not strict buddhists).
There is more to be gained by being the US' friend rather than our enemy. But even on our own soil we have wac(k)os who come to power and convince a bunch of people to hate and kill Americans for idiotic reasons. So what's to stop big time charismatic psychos (Bin Laden, Hussein, Castro, etc...) from secretly building their zealot armies and convince them to sacrifice their lives to try and shake up America. Simply put, pro-active military initiatives. It may not keep all the kooks from being kooks but it sure does keep the numbers down.
I like my lifestyle. I like being able to criticize my leaders and not being publicly executed for it but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate everything they've done for me. I like to know how many people here think they could re-invent govt to their liking and be successful...probably.000001% or 1%. I didn't like the way my parents raised me until I was wise enough to appreciate it, now I will raise my children the same way. It's the same for govt...
I'm proud to be part of a country like this...not under anyones rule...
I've worked in many clean room environments where traditional and electronic filtering were taking place...Air so damned clean you got sick going outside...But the point was...these rooms were also filled with multi-million dollar electronic equipment...If it's a bad idea to ionically(sp?) filter air next to electronic equipment...why did every desk in these places have their own mini-ionic-purifier...
It all boils down to a one key point: The better you look the better your life is.
Many people were interviewed for this article and the majority (not your average unthinking, unwashed masses) pretty much said, "If it's happening I'm gonna do it, becasue I don't want MY kid falling behind."
And it makes sense...we all ultimately don't want our children to go through the shit we went through as kids. I'm probably what you would consider the average geek. A bit overwieght, a bit too anti-motivated to achive grerat and wondrous things. But I have always known that I would want my kids to have a better life than I did. So, I married the sexiest girl I could find. Now I have two of the best looking kids at the playground. And I know their lives will benefit from it. They've gotten the best of both worlds. They're smart and they're good looking. But like the woman from MENSA (supposedly filled with smarties, and this I think proves that) said, "Sure, I'd want my child to have at least an average IQ, but if I had the opportunity to pick one thing to enhance for a child I would probably pick physical attractiveness," Becker says. "It opens doors to you. People like physically attractive people. It's one thing that has been linked to higher wages and an easier emotional life, and I don't know of any research like that in terms of intelligence. I'm sorry to say that and ashamed that in our culture it's true."

Does everything you want it to...but it's for windows...but it does PDA and WAP transmission and it does it from your own ip...which is beneficial...it also has streaming and of course the motion detection which is digital and very fantastic. it stores the logs wherever you specify, it has 4 levels of motion and you can set what to do for each level and you can set the sensitivity of the camera...the software is about US$200 but considering you can hook it up to any webcam it's worth it.
Is this really a revolution of socio-economic scale or is it just another foray of corporatism into spankin' new advertising revenue streams. Businesses don't care whether or not rural america or rural mongolia has a connection to the internet...not yet anyways. Just because the style of entertainment has changed don't be fooled into believing that it is a new way for "the people" to have a voice. It's a sham. Just like sports and television, the internet has become a revoltion suppression device. By allowing revolutionaries to seperate themselves geographically and making it less appealing for dissidents to congregate. This makes the corp/govt's job easier. Keeps us from revolting. Keeps people from experiencing the hardship of their fellow man. Makes it easierto swallow the oppression everyday.
The revolution we speak of will not be caused by those who have the luxury of access to the internet. It will be spearheaded by those who don't.
With corporate funded hobby-esque sites dropping like the NASDAQ in Q4 of 2000, how long before our own beloved/. goes the way of the portal? With it's parent company losing money hand over fist and a lack of serious money generation of it's own...
hrmmm...
Sure, you could also sell a piece of hardware that does nothing but this telephone-type connection.
hrmm...that's pretty dumb...in essence your talking about replacing the phone with a "New Fangled" phone... Why re-invent the wheel. Once you change the method of connection and the method reaches "critical mass" the telcos will step in and figure out a schema to moderate it and make it their own... In essence you just made a really expensive phone that instead of using existing technology now uses twice the bandwith for the same message...
Do parents nowadays do anything for their kids. I'm a father of two boys 1 in school already and I would much rather have the school ask me to fill out a ten page form explicitly detailing sites my kid is allowed and not allowed to access. I should have the power over what my kid sees and accesses not the school or the government. What the hell happened to parents? Did they all get lazy and worthless in the rearing of their own children? I've never seen such a blatant disregard for parents rights in my life. I have a home network and my 4 year old is already surfing. I have certain sites blocked for violent content and that's about it. Sex is natural. Look at the European countries. None of these hangups about sex and nudity. My son doesn't watch anything more violent than Rolie Polie Olie and that's the way it's gonna stay. But if he happens to see some kissing or sex on TV or in a movie I'mnot gonna freak out.
Parents ultimately NEED to have the control placed in their hands. In previous generations parents had a say in everything that went into their childrens heads but today they let advertisers and the government deem what is appropriate on ALL levels.
This is what will bring about Armegeddon. The obsolescence of parents.

The reason they seperated church and state is because of all the warring factions within 1 religion (christianity). Now take this argument to it's logical extreme (because humans take everything they can to the perverted extremes if allowed to) you end up with murder, rape and drug use in our schools all in the name of religion. For me it stands to reason that people, given enough rope, will hang everyone but themselves.
The proverbial iceberg of data on the net lives in databases not accessible to search engines as we know them today. The power and complexity of the little engine that could would be far too sophisticated for the public to be allowed access to.
It'll be interesting to see how they pull off the privacy end of the whole thing...

Are we looking forard to a renewed and much needed revamp in space travel?

Think people...remember that little movie Jurassic Park...
To get the motion of the dinosaurs to appear real they used a blurring affect. Regardless of the framerate the motion does not look natural. It looks CG...throw a little ( not a lot like in the screenshots) blur at it and it appears softer...more like real life...
But there is a technology that will help you. They have these little receiver/transceiver ear pieces. In essence a microphone and speaker in your ear. Your voice is transmitted via bone to the mic and of course the speakers sends sound into your ear. You could probably modify one of these bad boys to have it work like a phone...
The welfare situation in the united states has for the most part only served to keep the downtrodden(sp?) in the same position throughout their lives. And impoverished nations that recieve a sudden influx of material and subsistence goods end up worse off than before we came in.
I by no means am a religous man but something said in the bible stuck with me from sunday school all those years ago: "Give a man a fish he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime"
What I mean by that is this: If the government actually imposed a realistic tax structure in the united states where the poorest get the least taken out and the richest get the most then we might actually be able to afford to pay for education for the impoversihed folk who couldn't afford it otherwise. And by impoverished I don't just mean Joe Streetwalker but every person who could meet a less stringent set of criteria than the ones we currently use. When I ried going to college I was living with a friend making under the "official" poverty level each year and I still couldn't get federal assistance to go to college. All because I hadn't been off my parents taxes for more than 4 years. 4 YEARS! That's an insane amount of time considering the average college student is out of school by that time. If your parents can afford to send you but won't then that should nullify all official (taxes, etc..) ties with that family.
Teaching a person to be productive costs less in the long run than feeding that same person for a lifetime.
"Fine. Whoever makes less money can quit and raise the kid. "
Scmuck...Who says that one parent will be able to afford supporting 3 people as compared to one. Second. Who says that there are 2 parents involved in the rearing of the child. The world is not perfect. Companies that understand this make provisions for those employees that live in that world. That's why there is medical, dental, life, etc... If you don't want bennies become a contractor and pray to god you never get some girl preganat by accident and heaven forbid you ever want a real opportunity at a career and a home life because companies treat IT staff like shit and expect more out of them because the managers, et al have developed a stereotypical IT worker as single, male geek, i.e. no potential for some other form of life affirming relationship other than his work one.
They treat their most necessary workers like shit until they crack and then just shuffle a couple more in to fill the hole.
IT professionals are becoming expendable.
We need to stand up for ourselves more and re-affirm that we do have lives outside of the company. Sales & Marketing droids make more money and have better benefits than the rest of the workforce combined. Yet w/out the IT force they would have nothing to push.
IT professionals are necessary but not respected. Take back the respect!

So cute and tough...and built perfectly...
I'd much rather see the rest of the series as well done animated movies. We don't need another "Fist of the Northstar" fiasco!
I, however, went to college. Go ahead and tell me I waisted my time. IT was MY time and I think it's paying off right now.
