    Which makes it even harder - you could use a simple circuit tester in the past, now you need specialized software and a laptop.

    Nobody wants their phone to be as reliable as Windows. They want it to work 24x7x365. When was the last time it was "ok" to have to reboot your phone. Microsoft makes neat toys and cheap PC software - but reliable and "applicance-like" in a way that a Mac or DVD player or a toaster is - they are not.

    It's kind of like why nobody buys the Chevy Volt - it's a $40k Chevy econobox. Chevy != high tech quality, that's what Toyota is for.

    Given that there other, useful, general case workarounds for managing network traffic, this should NOT be built into SSH, rather the sysadmin should be clever enough to apply a general solution to his specific problem. Baking this sort of crap into every daemon out there is Microsoftian.

    Paging Captain Romero - of course you will get traffic on high ports - there's only so many available to try. Moving your ports around just delays the inevitable and culls out the lazy.

    People hate the Volt primarily because it's a Chevy. A government-funded Chevy, coming out hot on the heels of silly programs like Cash For Clunkers. Remember, ~1/2 the country doesn't like the current administration, and more than 1/2 the country doesnt like "the direction the country is going" - government promoted tiny electric shitboxes are not the way to people's hearts.

    Lets stop the overuse and abuse of legitimate technical terms already. It's like calling him a "hacker" - oh wait, TFA and TFEditor already did. I guess it makes sense the the "director" is the one using the term - since he's the farthest from the actual work, you'd expect him to be the most out of touch.

    Woz and Linus are hackers, and debuggers... and some would argue artists. This guy is perhaps an artist, but no hacker.
