Exactly. I have no plans to upgrade to Windows 7, either. However, my laptop is getting a bit long in the tooth, and I suspect I'll be replacing it within the next year. I'm pretty sure I know what OS the new one will come with....
There has already been talk about the possible shutdown of the Gulf Stream plunging Europe into a mini-ice age. It seems like meddling with the mix of warm and cold ocean water in this fashion could make things even worse. And who knows what pumping billions of gallons of cold water from the depths up to the surface would do to the marine wildlife.
Nobody likes hurricanes. They cause massive destruction and they kill people. But they are part of nature.
I think a better solution would be to act a little smarter about where we build our population centers, and do not offer insurance to people who choose to build in a location where hurricanes are known to strike on a somewhat regular basis.
"while AT&T has consistently higher upload rates"
Unless you are tethered, and even if you are, the upload rate is largely secondary.
Have fun tethering that i-phone, anyway...
From TFA, "For Kimberly Ennico, the LCROSS payload scientist, those worries are focused on a critical moment less than two hours into the mission, when controllers will signal the spacecraft to turn itself on."
_previously unknown_ role in controlling the insects' response to alcohol.
OTOH, you have to wonder how germaine the insects' response is to homo sapiens.
Only in software is it accepted that you can put a product out there that does not work as advertised. It seems that these days the idea is to get the product out there ASAP, and finish it later with patches and updates.
It is great that with ubiquitous internet access and 'phone home' functionality built into a lot of software these days we have the ability to fix bugs and add features on the fly after the purchase date; however this should not be used as an excuse to release what in reality is beta code, charge people for it, and then try to polish it up later on (if it even gets done at all...the temptation would just be to move on to the next 'version').
DOCSIS 3.0 does not limit the number of bonded channels. They may bond 2, 4, or more. I know a lot of cable companies are undertaking projects to increase the number of nodes in their systems to reduce the number of customers sharing that bandwidth, as well.

A good example of this is the Pancreas Expression Database, which some pacreatic cancer researchers are getting very excited about.
Kim Jong-il will be ecstatic to hear that. Dear Leader can't very well put the Grim Reaper into political prison....
Your answer will be read after you listen to this short advertisement. You know it's just a matter of time.

How fast are we moving?
1. Mother eats plant 2. Plant grows inside mother 3. Mother morphs 4. Diametrically opposed sons are born 5. Decades of hilarity ensue

Our intelligence is that they are storing WMD's on the moon.
Because if they don't deliver the technology to us, then China will.
I thought this was the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal philosophy?
Hey, I resemble that comment!
"Does the average citizen understand what this means?" No. Does the average /.er?

Wolfram = MOR FLAW
Now, we just need to invent a nanoCCD, and devise a way to switch from high beam to low beam.

Well, it means his model was better during the Financial crisis of 2007-2008. I can't predict whether it will be better next year.
It's 20 (or so) light years from Earth. According to this article, we've probably already pissed off any inhabitants...
