The general mindset is that creativity is fueled by the profit motive, so the more profit the more progress we will see in the arts and sciences. And while this is demonstrably NOT universally true...
They said the same thing about putting a man on the moon.
And we've been exploiting the innovation developed from that endeavor for the a half-century.
The technology won't exist until you decide to do it and be willing to pay for it.
And the largest technological hurdle associated with the space elevator is efficient power transmission to the lift. Otherwise, its not so bad.
What would be interesting is Adblock Plus for the iPhone.
GlimmerBlocker (uses ABP's blacklist) does the trick (or your favorite ad-block daemon).
More effective than browser plugins since it works across multiple apps (browser, email, feed reader, etc). Even more effective if you have your own web server w/ said daemon. I do this with all the wired/wireless clients at home. Setup up the iPhone to use your own server via proxy and you'll have all the ad blocking you want.
Please read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decade. Both conventions are correct since both represent a period of ten years, but the article is using the convention 2000-2009.
Buildings cause the same problem; anyone familiar with coherence and/or constructive and destructive interference of electromagnetic waves (or any other type of other wave) would say "No sh*t, Sherlock!"
Probably nothing significant, seeing as you can emulate exactly what a digital memristor does with 6 transistors and some electricity always applied.
Except 1 memristor = (40nm)^3, which is considerably smaller than 1 modern solid state transistor, not even considering 6 of them to achieve the same functionality.
Thus, higher density + higher functionality + lower power usage = uber pwnage
PR people are usually the bullshitters who couldn't make it as politicians.
So, basically, they couldn't even qualify as village idiot?
It would have been really funny and clever if they had used that as the password...
(1) Build a ****-load of WALL-E robots.
(2) Use them to fill the ocean with trash.
(3) Sell the land.
(4) ???
(5) Profit!
'Real' Americans listen to our guts, not the truth!
A recursive logical paradox! Awesome!
So the autonomous system beats having humans in the loop.
In Soviet Russia, control systems pilot you!
One anonymous aide said McChrystal seized control of the war "by never taking his eye off the real enemy: The wimps in the White House."
So we have two Anonymous Cowards calling officials at the White House wimps. Coincidence? I think not.
Breaking News: Glenn Beck is on Slashdot!

Ingenuity motivates creativity. Greed motivates profit.

Obviously they're Too Big To Fail, and need to be bailed out to the tune of 1.5 trillion.
Don't encourage them! :D
Less space than a nomad. Lame.
I must have more mobile porn at my disposal! You never know when you need it...
I'm unclear as to what way graphics heavy adverts will be 'win-win for ... iOS users'
Because we're too lazy to read!

I seem to recall that volcano monitoring was labeled as 'Pork'?
