There is a security hole in slashdot.
If you use IE4 or IE5, it is possible to
get your password (you need to be authenticaded).
I submit a story about this hole 2 days ago.
The hole is still there.

I think that the decision of IBM is the unique
one. The standard edition of Websphere has
nothing more than jakarta except it is late
in implemetation of the J2EE specification and
except it is not free.
Jakarta : jsp 1.1 servlet 2.2 (jakarta.apache.org)
websphere se : jsp 1.0 servlet 2.1
You should remember that most of slashdoter are using IE (May be CmdrTaco could publish slashdot.org agent statistics). If everyone changes to Opera or Netscape web designer will care of standard. Don't cry guys, this situation is yours...
I don't care about the office suite. My main obsession is about file formats. Nowadays there are two open source word processors, Abyword and Kword. Do these projects work together on file format ? No. There will be a format for Abyword and a format for Kword... Do they work together on reverse MS office file formats ? No.
Last point : it would be nice if Sun open filters of StarOffice !
In order to help you choosing the best VM, you can check the Volano Benchmark . You will see there that the best VM is Tower TowerJ 3.1.4 for Linux ! Second point, I never doubt that java on the server is a good solution now. For me, the only trouble with java now is the memory gluttony. If some of you want to test Jsp/Servlet, here are some good open source products : java.apache.org (JSP, servlet), www.enhydra.org (JSP, servlet, EJB)
