  1. Re:Earthlink in Seattle on Why You Don't Have a Broadband Connection · · Score: 1

The way it typically works is that someone, like Earthlink, pays a telco like say ATT, SBC, etc to provide DSL over the telco's lines. Essentially Earthlink is providing IP addresses and routing. I may be a little wrong but that is the basics of it.

    Ain't 'competition' grand?

There is a Dr Pepper museum in Waco where you can get DP made with the original recipe - that means pure cane sugar instead of corn syrup. I've never had it, but it supposedly tastes much better.

As far as their restaurant distribution goes, it's actually a little different than that. The Pepsi (i.e. Mormon) "establishments" typically don't have DP and DP fans are forced to order Mr Pibb. This seems to have been changing in some of the ... ahem... "establishments" of late and some are offering DP.

Actually, Dr Pepper is originally from Waco, Texas - which is an hour-and-a-half drive south of Dallas on I-35. It was created in Morrison's Old Corner Drug Store in Waco and named after Doctor Charles Pepper, who gave Morrison his first job. (Repeated here because there site is 100% flash. Yep, interesting isn't it? The enemies of the United States have already won. Our freedoms erode in the name of protecting those very freedoms. I don't quite get the logic. If I was a conspiracy nutcase I would be saying that someone (group not individual) has really jumped on this opportunity to remove a few freedoms and get a stranglehold on the populace of this Once Great Country.

I always thought that the biggest F.U. to terrorists would be to live with the same freedoms we've always had. Guess that's not really the case. Damn idealogies. :)
