As far as them getting "a life" after jail, they can get one. Most of them don't want to live a different life once they are on the outside. Most of them just want is to get back to being whatever they were before.
Bad Taste was bad, but its so bad its good. Its sort of like watching "Plan 9 from Outer Space". It has an appeal to Troma lovers as well. My take on the movie was that Peter Jackson wanted to make something like a Troma movie to appeal to a particular sense of humor.
Actually, if he willingly gave up on being named the director of the movie so Frank Miller could take credit in his place then he lacks ego, and instead has some humility. He did this at the cost of another movie deal as mentioned by the OP. Even if those are the rules, one should has some sort of review process for exceptions based on completely valid reasons.
We tried it without collective bargaining, it lead to the Robber Barons exploiting workers, the infamous "coal" towns, and extremely poor working conditions paired with crappy pay for good work. In my working experience as well as my wife's and most of my friend's, typically the least productive and least skilled people are the management. Im not saying that simply because I disagreed with management's decisions periodically or because I am some person filled with jealousy over someones salary. I say it because time and time again we would witness managers take extra time off for vacations/lunch/breaks or even show up for 20 of the 45 hours they are paid a salary for. They would offload work on other's shoulders when they had no other responsibilities at that moment and the work was well within their responsibilities. Many of them literally had limited to no understanding of what they were trying to manage as in the case of several IT departments I worked for. Im not saying that some managers aren't knowledgeable and/or reasonable, what I am saying is having social abilities and connections quite often gets substituted in for having an actual ability to do your job. Without some way for workers to voice their concerns over things like this you end up with more unproductive work ANYWAY because the management is not even trying to utilize people and resources to their fullest ability, they are trying to minimize the amount of work they actually do while maximizing the profits from their department which typically comes at the cost of safety, workers benefits, productivity, ect. Unfortunately, so far no one has come up with a better way for workers to have a say in the conditions they must work in than a Union, a CO-OP or True Communism (which have never been successful anyway).
I knew why it was done, I just don't agree with the methodology. Even at the time informed consent for human experimentation was a standard set by the AMA and AEC. People simply ignored informed consent and just experimented on people. In the case of the military THEY WERE ORDERED to be human test subjects. There is no informed consent there considering the consequences for going AWOL or disobeying orders.
This should be modded troll. The Pentagon != Obama. If Obama tried to do anything about this the political fallout from those in power at the pentagon would be enormous for him. Its two sides of the same coin with our current political party system. Bush, Obama, both of them are shitty presidents.
Obama struck down that "Audit the Fed Reserve" bill. He did this because he KNOWS if the Fed Reserve was ever audited some really damning information would get out and there would be a revolution. You would find out who the wealthy collaborators are that pretty much control the worlds money (and hence the world). I don't believe in the "illuminati", but I know that the super rich of the world are working more or less together to keep their money and make more.
The problem is "National Secret" sometimes means "Embarrassing things we don't want the people to know about to give them more reasons to want us out of power." Go read about the AEC and Manhattan Project sponsored plutonium injections, and radioactive iron experiments on pregnant women. Also go see how the military exposed infantry and pilots to radioactive fallout intentionally to see what would happen. The only way to guarantee the government and military not get out of hand is to have some transparency. Im not saying we should send a list of all out sub locations to the Chinese, Im saying it is too easy to classify information that should be known about as early as possible to limit unethical things happening. Or do you think its okay to let soldiers wait in trenches near ground zero of a nuclear explosion and also let pilots fly through the resulting mushroom cloud?
I forget which game this came from but I remember a game where your religion would bestow upon you benefits. I.e. a harder working people or more money or scientific advancements. I mean, I guess Age of Mythology was kind of like that but Im pretty sure this game was turn based and I cant for the life of me remember what it was.
If you are French I feel sorry for you. Looks like there is someone like Bush Jr. in office over there, although I bet the French president is smarter.
Using a nuclear weapon is not out of bounds for a war when its necessary to use one. If you have evidence that its necessary to use nuclear weapons then post it. Keep in mind that two cities (Nagasaki and Hiroshima) were literally left alone by all military bombardment. No bombs were dropped on them save for Fat Man and Little Boy. Why? The majority of Japanese cities were smoldering piles of ash from our relentless fire-bombing. The fire-bombing itself was done in a way that made evacuation impossible (assuming the people didnt up and leave before the bombing started). Nagasaki and Hiroshima were left alone because the military wanted to see what an atom bomb would do to a "virgin" city and the AEC (at the time of the bomb dropping called the Manhattan Project) and others followed up for decades studying the long term affects of radiation on Japanese people who were near enough the explosion to get dosed with radiation. Now, I suppose an atom bomb detonating above your head is better than burning to death so maybe it was a mercy. Like I said before, war isnt so simple as we are right they are wrong. I am not a Japanese apologist nor am I trying to downplay their role, they did some horrible things (see vivisection experiments and japanese POW camps). I feel like both sides treated eachother very poorly.
Well, in regard to this issue. We don't have a three strikes law. I am not fond of the US government either. Nothing every happens that benefit its people (unless you make over 200000 a year). Im not suggesting a wellfare state as here in the South we have a big problem with freeloaders buying shit for themselves when their kids starve and wear rags most the time. It would be nice to have a government that is more interested in its people doing well rather than the size of paychecks for Executives.
Amen. The companies that are represented by the RIAA and MPAA actually own the rights to things they did not create. They do this by controlling all the distribution and production facilities of the material so the only way for an artist to make money is to play along and sign a contract giving up their rights to their own stuff. The internet, open-hardware (non DRM) and file-sharing is a big blow to that business model because it takes away their media distribution oligopolies (shared monopoly). Intellectual property rights were meant to protect artists, not some group of mega-corp's, but its being twisted to continue to enforce their business model upon the American consumer and the artists they supposedly represent. Really what it boils down to is that these companies make big bucks off of legally stealing other peoples work, and then nickle and dime the crap out of everyone for it. If they had their way, there would be a box in your house that monitored and charged each person who watched your TV. You are right in that even if we don't buy their stuff they will still try to enforce us to by blanketing competition out of the way through "Copyright" lawsuits and settlement requests. There has been too many cases of abuse and it absolutely boggles my mind our Government which is supposed to be for the people doesn't do anything for us.
The US is only marginally better. It wont be long before something equally intrusive and anti-freedom happens here. The entertainment industry needs to get put in their place GLOBALLY.
I definitely something along these lines will happen. What boggles my mind is why this law passed, it has to be unpopular with the French people. Apparently the government in France is even worse when it comes to self-interest and special-interest ball-suckery than the one here in the states.
If I were feeling particularly pretentious and filled with snobbery, I would have responded as you did.

Dude, have you seen Bad Taste or Dead Alive? Both are Peter Jackson flicks and they are damn funny and good.

Didnt you know? Violating copyright IS stealing!
So then the scale is 1/3 2/3 3/3 and he hasnt had a crappy enough game for 0/3.

The problem is the "of" part. It can be interpreted as 6% of printed books sales are e-books.
