    I can't imagine being tied to an internet connection AND an entity on other end of the connection controlling things. Might as well just buy a freaking FM radio.

  4. The point is, it is very doubtful that the WaPo or any other similar papers, who have vowed to not publish material contrary to Global Warming Consensus, will print opinions that clearly contradict the prevailing AGW narrative despite the author's impeccable credentials.

    I don't believe it's happened yet even though both are rather prolific authors.

    Declare the Emergency, advise ATC of your intentions, and they move everyone out of the way. That's the way it works.

    It should be noted that the Pilot is responsible for the safety of everyone on board and has the very last word on it.

    Assuming that the pilot was trying to avoid a dangerous thunderstorm that he had reason to believe would imperil the aircraft and passengers, he could have and should have changed course and/or altitude and tell ATC to fuck off, but keep them apprised at the same time so they can move others out of the way.

    Modern Engines are designed to ingest tremendous amounts of water and still run.

    A Qantas airliner suffered a catastrophic engine failure ad returned to the airport. After landing, the engine was still running and spewing fuel everywhere. They poured foam and water directly into the engine for 30 minutes before it finally quit running.

    Also, tablets have a longer lifespan than your average smartphone. The tablet market could probably be called Mature now. Explosive growth is over, at least in the original Western Markets. You are looking at incremental growth and replacements.

    Mobil phones, on the other hand, are still P.O.S. devices that start breaking within a year or are obsoleted by he never ending OS updates, carrier technology, etc.

    This all amounts to a big "Nanny Nanny Boo Boo" to the Republicans by the New York Times, which fighting to remain relevant.
