"this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth."

EXISTING laws proscribe direct sale to the consumers. Argue if you want about how those laws cam into existence, but they are in fact, the law and predate Tesla.
Tesla wanted the laws changed. So they were actually the ones lobbying for a special exemption.
Texas didn't ban Tesla cars, they didn't change the existing laws to accommodate Tesla's sales model. You can argue about that being smart or not, but Telas's cars are NOT banned.
A Self Driving car has a whole new layer of computers, servos, pumps, linkages, regulators, etc. that can and will break. It's bad enough you can be stranded in the middle of nowhere when you alternator fails, but now your car may shut down Friday, at 5:15 on the 405 Freeway because a safety feature disables it.
Most major pension funds are invested in Exxon and others in the fossil fuel industry. That's the money of auto workers, healthcare workers, aerospace workers, teachers, other unions, etc. Regular people.

The essential truth is that 98% of people who speak out on this issue are merely parroting back talking points and/or just being fanboys for the side that aligns with their politics.
I still have a Mac512K that was converted to a 1 Meg in my garage. It still turns on and would run if I had a system disk. I carried it around campus in that huge bag.
So, as a long time fan of Apple, I have to say that Apple has seen its heyday. Apple was a company driven by personality...Steve's. Without him it's just another technology company trying to meet the quarterly goals. It will take a while, but Apple will fall back to the middle of the pack and become mediocre. I'd bet that the Apple stores will start to close in the next several years.
Actually, if you put 6k+ people on a project, I'd fully expect it to go nowhere.
I'd like to see the SOW for all these projects...if they exist.
Laws related to reducing global warming are good for the environment so it does not matter a damn what the data says.
Evey now and then these people say what they really think and show their true intentions. The whole AGW thing is merely a cover for their agenda.
Do it because "it's for the children".
...I really need to stop drinking on Mondays.
Which is why the US military is in no terms relying on supercomputer simulations to maintain the enduring stockpile of nuclear weapons.
And we'll never know until we light try to one off now will we?

Their reversal had less to do with some kind of intellectual epiphany than it did angry letters from people that contribute to their campaigns.
Even dogs learn not to bite the hand that feeds them.
Zero Tolerance: A regulatory philosophy that administrators hide behind to avoid having to make decisions and subsequently defend those decisions.

Seems the Rodeo Clown had it right the entire time.
Fundamental Fail.
The Constitution says what it says. You don't get to change it with some moral equivalency. You want it changed? Do it in the manner it provides.

Many of the US Army soldiers are also members of the NRA.
One very disturbing trend is the use of heavily armed SWAT teams to carry out actions related to civil and not criminal investigations.
Just the other day the EPA sent a SWAT team to check on the water quality at several small gold mining operations in Alaska.
Of course, Ruby Ridge and Waco will always be examples of out of control Feds.
I knew a girl named Lorry.
She was as big as a truck.
