    OK, RTFA.

    EXISTING laws proscribe direct sale to the consumers. Argue if you want about how those laws cam into existence, but they are in fact, the law and predate Tesla.

    Tesla wanted the laws changed. So they were actually the ones lobbying for a special exemption.

    Texas didn't ban Tesla cars, they didn't change the existing laws to accommodate Tesla's sales model. You can argue about that being smart or not, but Telas's cars are NOT banned.

    A Self Driving car has a whole new layer of computers, servos, pumps, linkages, regulators, etc. that can and will break. It's bad enough you can be stranded in the middle of nowhere when you alternator fails, but now your car may shut down Friday, at 5:15 on the 405 Freeway because a safety feature disables it.

    Bad idea all the way around.

    I still have a Mac512K that was converted to a 1 Meg in my garage. It still turns on and would run if I had a system disk. I carried it around campus in that huge bag.

    So, as a long time fan of Apple, I have to say that Apple has seen its heyday. Apple was a company driven by personality...Steve's. Without him it's just another technology company trying to meet the quarterly goals. It will take a while, but Apple will fall back to the middle of the pack and become mediocre. I'd bet that the Apple stores will start to close in the next several years.

    One very disturbing trend is the use of heavily armed SWAT teams to carry out actions related to civil and not criminal investigations.

    Just the other day the EPA sent a SWAT team to check on the water quality at several small gold mining operations in Alaska.

    Of course, Ruby Ridge and Waco will always be examples of out of control Feds.
