Yah they probably pulled a Metallica and checked to see who downloaded Barry Manilow's songs, found one guy who did it and was in the 35-50 age bracket, that's my theory and I'm sticking to it.
Advertising on web sites is my only source of income, we make sites for free and then keep the money from the advertising. We don't charge for the content we put up, but you better believe I would not spend all of my time doing this for free.
They are promising favourable treatment which may include a loan to build a new headquarters if Microsoft agrees to move its operations 100 miles further north, to the other side of the Canadian border.
yah, lets loan the richest dude in the world money, that makes lots of sense, damn I love the government in my Province. Jeebus save me!
Games like "Doom" also are popular. Overclockers who play them say the faster chips help them outlast their competitors. "If you don't care a lot about getting killed, you're probably not going to care a lot about overclocking," said Alex Ross, creator of SharkyExtreme, a Web site devoted to hardware.
Yeah man I was playing Doom last night on my Celeron II o'c to a gigahertz, and my half a gig of ram, oh yeah I just got a pre-release of a 64MB ge-force card, and DAMN that game rocks. Frekin' Cyber-deamon is hard though...
Ummm.. if I was driving my car at the speed of light and I turned on my headlights what would happen?
I have wondered the same thing that you are asking, and the answer is that my headlights would work normally, ie, the light would shoot from my headlights at the speed of light. Now I think that most of it has to do with your frame of reference. As with your train example the two clocks are in different frames of reference and therefore there will be differences between them, because just because the train is moving, don't forget that the other clock is also moving (earth spinning, movement within the galaxy, blah, blah, blah). It's all relative.
This stuff is hard, but not nearly as hard as real relativity. I mean if the person is your cousins aunt's daughter's sister's husband's long-lost twice removed cousin. Now who the hell is that? I tell you, you had a real family reunion, that's relativity.
I'm running NT4.0 also and the first time I ran it, it did take up 25+ megs, now it's at around 20 megs. Not good. Anyway it's a beta so that's cool I guess, but needs some work.
Sure is speedy on normal-nothing-fancy sites though, but this article took 170 seconds to load, not quite as speedy as I would've hoped. (Yeah yah I'm on a fast connection, and it never took THAT long in IE), hell the slashdot main page took over 30. The lack of an uninstall kinda bugs me too. Now I'm stuck with it I guess, just hope that in a week I don't start getting, the "Netscape is not your default browser, would you like to make it? Yes/no" Damn those messages piss me off. It's great that Netscape is trying to compete with Microsoft, but DAMN don't do it by nagging us.
OOph, don't even get me started on the crappy netcenter registration. I just wanted to try the beta dammit. First I try to register, but oops I guess one other time I also tried and it remembers my email address, ok that's fine, oh nuts, what's the password? Oh well try a new one to replace the old one. Now I have to reply to not one, not two, but three frickin emails. Jeez it's probably easier to get a work visa to the states than register this damn thing. So finally get that done and what do I get? a nice little 404 page not found, and as the startup screen. Ok even I can understand this, I mean I did mess around in the crappy registration for awhile. Hmmm nice most pages load nice and quick,
Oh hey crappy music on my current streaming station, lets go and change it, go to shoutcast and click, now what do I do with the playlist file, ooh look at that I'll choose pick app, and pick winamp, oh wait pick app isn't implemented yet. Nice.
Damn that's the longest rant EVER on my part congrats to anyone who made it though that whole mess. Now if only I can find a way to get rid of netscape 6....
I'm not sure if this is true all over, but the places that I have seen it certainly is. I attend UVIC in BC working on my computer science/software engineering degree, and wow, I figured that there was about 5-10% girls in our classes, (by rough head count). Most of my classes are over 100 people and around 40% would be asian I think. Certainly some motivation to enter into education or an -ology where all the girls are at, (and the good lookin ones too, definately not enough of those in computer science.)
I do have a question for you guys though, will be finished my second year soon, but am lacking behind in my work terms, so I need more experience. I have around 3 years of school left just to get my bachelors. Do any of you think that it is worth it, or should I just go get a tech. diploma or something and then go down to the states and start getting some real world experience. (Plus start making some real cash)
Man, with the *high* quality of the post so far in this article, it must be friday night. Looks like somepeople just can't wait to let loose after work, course they haven't been moderated yet, cause all the moderators are getting drunk. (some things never change). Anyway who cares, I need a beer. (_a beer_? HA), well maybe one or two more.
I think that for mario party it is the palm cause you have to do silly thing like rotate the joystick on the controller as fast as you can, so all of the little kids are mashing their palm against the joystick and going nuts. I've tried it once and it's certainly not easy on the hands, I can imagine a few days of it and there would for sure be some damage
Nope, good 'ol CANADA has the highest standard of living. Our good friends from the UN have given us the Quality of Life Index #1 position for quite a few years now. Go Canada!
And no, the world does not turn into ice and snow as soon as you cross the boarder into Canada.
Actually I heard that Dolphin is DVD based and runs at ~400Mhz, don't know if it'll play normal DVD's, but seeing as they are coming out after the PS2, they might have to to stay competative
Don't forget there is also the *ever wonderful* X-box that is also supposed to be DVD based, and runs at a Ghz. Only the future can tell us what there will be, personally I can't wait to buy a playstation. GT2000 looks pretty damn cool.
Not only Japanese students, if this thing gets released in Sept. That's just when I go back to school.... Trouble. Seems like a failed semester for me. GO GT2000 Wheeeeeeeeee!!
Yeah at UVIC they have not banned napster... yet, though they have tried the "enforcement" policy. My friend got a visit from the uniformed campus security guards saying that he was to stop using napster and to delete the files off of his computer. That is fine, though I did find it strange that they singled him out, but i later found out that the network dudes did a 5 minute scan and found a bunch of people using napster and paid those people a visit.
Bad timing I guess. As for bandwidth, there is no restrictions at UVIC, I know cause a LOT of traffic went through our dorm, with people passing around iso's and movies. I know a few days when we easily did over a gig a day, when my friend bought a new hard drive he did over 5 gigs in a day. But his neighbour found out that there is a limit, he was running a hotline server and had lots of traffic (over a gig each way), everyday for a month, then he lost his ethernet connection, totally resonable. He now has it back and doesn't download anything. I totally understand the banning of napster, but it would suck. BTW I am happy, I moved out of res, missed my high-speed connection like crazy, but today I get my cable connection Yipee!
It sure was, even from the start everyone I was with was like: "what the hell is this, when did they move the X-files and replace it with Outer Limits?" Does not matter it sucked.
Worst episode EVER Don't normally comment on stuff, hell I don't even watch that much TV anymore, but I do have 2 shows a week, and luckily they fall on sundays, The Simpsons and X-Files, now most X-Files are pretty good, but this one was CRAP.
--:End rant:--
Though I did like the part where whats-his-face-lone-ranger dude was typing on a command line interface and all he got was:
Bad command or file name
Over and over no matter what he did, reminds me of my first days of messing with DOS.
Yep I just started using the MS natural keyboard, and it took a little while to get used to but now it's great. I'm a pretty big guy and having my hands at a more natural position is great. Not only am I not that worried about that carpal tunnel crap, my shoulders don't hurt that much at the end of the day either now.
Though if I was going to buy one for home I would get the new one with the extra USB ports and they fix the only thing that I hate about my current keyboard, the damn re-arrangement of the arrow keys and the home, end, del... keys. That took the longest to get used to.
Here is a picture I took in Whister. There are more to the series, but none of them as good. 10 second exposure, Olympus C-3000 digital camera.
From: http://www.engr.uvic.ca/policy/professional-behavi our.html (This is the school that the students go to.)
Wrong, that's UVIC, where I go to. These engineers were from UBC (http://www.ubc.ca/)

Hey! that's my name, I'm jBarnett too
RADISKULL RULES!!!!!!!!

He'll fight crime, corruption, and enforce the prohibition.

Army of Darkness, the best movie EVER made.

Anyone else think that the big alien looked alot like one of the aliens from Mars Attacks?
Well I sure did and actually burs out laughing in the theater.
Oh well could be worse I guess. I did like how the "greenhouse" was a tent and you could breathe inside though.

Actually the L2 cache is 256 bits wide on the new PIII chips. (running at full clock speed) Wheeeeee
