I noticed something odd from the first moment I fired up CS3 and tried to create a new image. It hung for a few moments and then I noticed some heavy network use. This happens every single time I fire up CS3. I knew about this quite a while ago, but never did sniff to see what exactly was happening. I did disable my network connection once to see if it would still allow me to create a new image, which it did.
Under Iowa law this is illegal. Including "spyware" with any product without specifically stating what it is for and how to uninstall it is a felony. Any use of network resources or computer resources without explicit knowledge and approval by the own of the machine and/or network is a felony. Is this covered in the EULA?
It's no longer the 70's and they can't sit in the back room snorting blow and not expect everything outside of their little party to have changed.
I don't see why not. Laws are changed every day by lobbying Congress to change the rules to favor business over the people. This is will end up another case of more of the same. Congress will come around and enact new legislation to prop this industry up just like so many others.
Isn't it time to break the RIAA up? This country was never intended to be run by the mafia. I realize corporations have a lot more swing in government affairs than was originally planned, but it's not too late to change that now.
This seems to be the cable industry's problem in general. Comcast's support procedures mirror Time Warner's. The local cable company here could easily be mistaken for a mini-TW or mini-Comcast. They have the exact same sales promotions and support procedures. I don't understand the homogeneity of the industry, but it doesn't appear to be working out very well.
Well there's your problem right there. IRC isn't for the retards that spend 15 minutes trying to figure out how to get logged onto a server and find a channel to ask a question they could've resolved in 3 minutes by googling. Same goes for those morons trying to find 'warez' for everything.
While it's not a good pump&dump for a tidbit of info, it does happen to be a very nice forum for people to discuss everyday life and their interests.
No doubt. I got a prepaid for my birthday back in september with 6 hours on it. I've used two hours so far. I won't be needing to refill it for another few months.
So instead of slinging mud and deleting the opposition party votes, they proactively destroy the opposition before it gets a chance. Looks like Russia is just a little less subtle about rigging their elections.
A friend of mine recently questioned whether all our IM conversations were being watched by the NSA. I said most likely it all runs through a computer of theirs at some point thanks to AT&T. He decided the best way to find out was to say everything that we could think of that might throw some red flags and see what happened.
Needless to say neither one of us vanished in the night, and neither of us received any unwanted visitors.
I've never been into the star wars movies. After reading the comments posted here today I can't imagine even saying I relatively liked the movies because that would be an out and out lie. I've never seen the first 3 all the way through... my dad used to watch them back when I was pretty little (5 or so), but I saw the latest 3. I didn't think anything was wrong with any of them, however there wasn't anything spectacular either. If I never saw another star wars movie again it wouldn't bother me in the slightest.
I know this is total blasphemy but I feel like it's just an automatic assumption that every computer nerd should automatically love AND hate star wars. I feel neither, just a complete indifference, much like if I saw a kid's movie with the family.
I worked for a mid-sized business ISP a few years ago and we lost our HVACs. All 4 of them at the same time. The maintenance guy that came to do some routine crap was new and somehow completely fubar'd the entire system. We had 2 HVACS for cooling our two data centers and 2 on backup in case anything happened. He somehow managed to shut all 4 down and they absolutely refused to come back online.
It took about an hour before we had to begin shutting the least critical firewalls/servers/routers etc off. We let some pieces of equipment get to the point of melting before we unplugged them, because they were so critical and could be replaced for cheaper at a later time.
We all thought the company was done right then and there. Everyone stayed around the clock trying to think up plans. We had a data center in Minneapolis, 5 hours away that we could run all the big client equipment to, but other than that we were SOL.
Then someone made a few phone calls and managed to procure 8 portable air conditioners. The network engineers cut holes in the wall and ran ducts from the AC units to outside. We all took 2 hour shifts changing the water pans and keeping accurate temperature records throughout the weekend while the HVACs were being replaced.
What a nightmare that was... but we came out of it alright in the end. Didn't lose any major clients and didn't have to shuttle any equipment to minnesota. I bet the guy that got fired for screwin it all up will never work in the hvac industry again though. I still feel kinda bad for him.
You mean just like socialist evil Venezuela did? But that then proves that elections were fair... that keeps people like evil scumbag Chavez in power legitimately:(/sarcasm
I'll never understand what the makers of my Nokia were smoking when they put it together. The phone has a lot of nice features like a tip calculator, conversions, etc, but the main screen does not have a clock unless it's on the screensaver, but if you press a button while it's on the screensaver clock, the clock disappears and the unit lights up. By the time the clock comes back, the screen is dark again. So in order to check the time I have to unlock the phone, and hold the time button which is a very loud voice telling you the time. It's embarrassing.
Somehow I imagine new contracts are going to have some sort of NDA that will not allow a band to release anything without the permission of the recording company under the same name, regardless of whether or not they're under contract.
I can see some slimy lawyers just drooling over it right now.
Hell, there are probably government subsidies granted for this very thing.
Hmm, I assumed it was some kind of reminder as to why they were knitting or crocheting in the first place.

Looking to score for the other team?
Do Liberians really like books or something?
Did they also report on the caging lists and absentee ballots? Our election wasn't a 1 ring circus.. it was a full top 3 ring circus.
..for some senator to start talking about how we need to tax all these nano-internets.

I don't think you understand the relationship in play here. The more ridiculous a lawsuit the more press coverage it gets.
I'm afraid you completely missed the point. If tomorrow the US lost purchasing power, Wal-Mart could just as easily declare China their home country.
One thing you're overlooking is that the corporation knows no home country. It goes where the most money is to be made for the cheapest price.
If you asked WalMart what it's 'own country' is they probably couldn't answer that.

Its the 1600 model. One of those Net10 pay as you go phones.

But what if he wasn't elected? Couldn't some wormy lawyer work around that?
Everyone knows he wasn't elected his first term. He was appointed.
