    Time dilation works largely because as we approach C our mass also increases. At .5% of C (not 50%) our mass will have effectively doubled and time will be noticeably slower than home, to keep accelerating at one G you need more energy to push the increased mass. As you approach 50% of C your mass will be thousands of times greater than at "rest" the energy required to continue to keep accelerating is unimaginable if it were possible to get within 95% of C your mass would be nearly infinite and it would require the energy output of a quasar to power your ship!

    Think of light speed as the event horizon of a black hole, mass = speed or the reverse, it really doesn't matter, time is dragged down by mass, not speed.

    Ain't worth a damn and politicians are (for the most part) the reason for everything that goes wrong in America!

    How a headline hungry, yellow journalistic, irresponsible press can take some petty crook with questionable technical credentials and make a science-fiction supervillan out of him, and the politically ambitious law enforcement officials who want to paint themselves as the superheros of the story at the expense of some ineffectual schlub, (make a toy of him/an example) a behavior that typifies oppressive regimes throughout the world.

    OK, so a "netbook" ain't a PC? And a tablet running Windows isn't either? What about a tablet running an alternate PC operating system like Linux? Or a tablet running somthing else? It has a CPU, display, RAM, storage and a control interface.

    My "jail-broke" Ipod Touch 3rd Gen (that I got for free) is (IMHO) a PC!

    You'd need substantial mass for shielding from the passive (free floating) hydrogen nuclei etc.
    With time dilation trips of almost any distance should take about 2.8 years (ship time) even if
    in real time it lasts millions of years.

    At age 60 I became unemployed, after a 5 year, 6 day per week, 8 hour per week, 10K (approx) resumes submitted and 7 interviews later, I gave up and retired, now on the eve of my 69th birthday I have some advice for anybody over 50, KEEP YOUR JOB! It is most likely the last one you'll have.
