I distinctly remember when I was assigned new hires, fresh out of college, all with a minimum of a BS in CS, usually with glowing letters of recommendation from the "somebody" in the undergraduate program at "university", and I remember very well just what a bunch of utterly helpless dunces (most of) these people were! I also had the pleasure of training two Vietnam vets, who had only marginal exposure to machine rooms and data centers and no repair training! Armed with common sense, a high school education and the ability to reason both these men had, within two years there own service areas, while the college boys either quit or stayed as analysts.

Education is a tool, if you don't know how to use it, (it) was a waste of money!

  14. Re:Location proves nothing on Police Increasingly Looking To Smartphones For Evidence · · Score: 1

The problem with juries is that people with jobs that don't offer paid jury leave (almost all of them) want you to lose money and participate in a charade, playing along with the corrupt, arbitrary, capricious and above all political game being used by an elected prosecutor to gain points so as to further his/her ambitions! The outcome is that most jurors are not workers, but rather are retired or otherwise unemployed. All this leads to a very disgruntled jury pool, unhappy people who consciously or subconsciously undermine the entire process.

The police don't really care who is or is not guilty, they only want to get a case off their plate, the prosecutor will, however use any case as a tool for self-aggrandizement, he/she will make a toy of the unlucky/guilty/suspect, including but not limited to "perp-walks", press conferences/releases, etc designed to cast a guilty shadow over the accused.

And in cases where the death penalty is carried out in some states they try to take/seize assets from the condemned's family to get him/her to sign a document making him/her to pay for his/her "execution".

I am getting off topic, to make a short statement like "Evidence? we don't need no stinking evidence!" would summarize the entire diatribe.

They (law enforcement) REALLY, REALLY HATE IT when the get caught on tape (so to speak) committing murder, beating the helpless, framing citizens, violating the "laws" they are sworn to uphold, yup it pisses them off!

Just a little "for instance" in San Jose, CA some year back two burly young 200lb plus officers wearing body armor responded to a "disturbance" at the home of a 4' 10" tall 88lb woman who it turned out had psychological issues, she had not taken her medications and was panicking because her child had become locked in the bathroom, she had been using an Asian-style vegetable peeler to try to pry open the door, when the aforesaid burlies saw the peeler they "thought it was a cleaver" and as we know two large men are no match for a distraught 89 pound woman! The officers, "fearing for their lives" opened fire and shot the lady many, many times (cops NEVER shoot to wound or disable) at point blank range!

IMHO, these men are COWARDS, SOCIOPATHS AND MURDERERS, but of course they were rewarded with paid leave and a pat on the back!
