  4. Re:No Prince, but Courtney Love Speaks out: on Musicians Get Together For Anti-RIAA Concerts · · Score: 1

Ok let me say it like this. Elvis, Buddy Holly, Richie Vallens, Everly Brothers, Pat Boone, Roy Orbison, Beach Boys, Rolling Stones, didn't make much money for their albums. They made money off touring. It's not a new problem it's always been the situation. Records never made money for the artist they made money for the record company. Since the conception of Rock and Roll that has been the way it is. Did anyone ever here Blind Lemon bitch about the company not giving him the advance he deserved? No. Like I said someone call Ian from Fugazi and see if get Bitch Love from Hole some good advice.

  5. Re:No Prince, but Courtney Love Speaks out: on Musicians Get Together For Anti-RIAA Concerts · · Score: 0, Flamebait

I think what Ms. Love is trying to say is that she can't get the record company to give her any more money for the shit songs she sort of writes. My advice to her is this: Go Fuck Yourself! You knew damn well what you were signing. It's been proved years and years ago that you really don't make shit off record sales. You make money off touring. As much as I don't want to say it, look at Metallica they are (used to) tour every year. they sell a shit load of t-shirts. Aerosmith, they are on the road every few years. Lenard Skynard, ACDC, yeah I know these are shit bands but almost a sure thing that you can see them every year in your town. And Ticketmaster still sucks but that is where any band makes money. And radio play, her album came out a year or two ago and frankly, it just wasn't any good or radio playable. and the tour behind it didn't do any good either. Right, she is on our side of the pool but it really isn't for the right reasons. She really isn't any type of spokeswoman that I'd vote for on this topic. I guess it makes me mad when I hear how bad courtney love's life is, someone please fucking call Fugazi and let them know that Hole's record deal isn't working out and they need some advice. And another thing, if anyone doesn't remeber who Parasite Alan Douglas is, the assface who wouldn't release any of Hendrix's material after he passed. Well, Ms. Love and Wendy O'Conner take two. When they stop doing thing for the fans that put them there the need to just go away. And some more, Hole was on SNL on Comedy Central today at 12:00 from back around her first album and damn she is fucking disgusting!

  6. Good `ol USA on Say Here Why Sklyarov Should Go Free · · Score: 1

Maybe if Russia sends over an apology to Adobe and the US government they will let the guy. Ain't it nice, we spend the better part of April bitching about China the we turn around and do the same fucking thing. Well the out come of this mess could be good though. Hopefully a gongressman/woman will remove their head from their ass/intern's genitals and see that the DCMA is violation of programmers rights.

  7. Well this might work.... on Rackmounting at Home? · · Score: 1

Musician's Friend sells small SBK portable rackmount guitar effects cabs. I'm not totally sure if they are the same size but could prolly be modified.
I actually have an SBK guitar case for my strat. For about 5 years of playing local shows it took a pretty good beating. So I'm guessing that the rackmount cases are of the same quality. I saw a guy drop a 4U shockmount cases at a bar in Cleveland and though nothing of it. Just picked it up and put it in the bus. I'm not to sure if I'd do that to my puter.

  9. This usually works... on What Do You Do To Relieve Lower Back Pain? · · Score: 1

It's been around for a few years. And believe it or not it actually works. It's called excersice. Not only will it help with things like back pain, it also helps with things like fatigue and endurance. And as much as some coders/crakcers/hackers hate it it gets them out of their houses, away from their machine and out to the real world. I'd endorse it. Excersice works. Curing America of the Fat-Asses we are.

  10. GSXR-1000, 1300 on But Does it Run Linux? · · Score: 1

Good to see tax money going for a good cause. $150K isn't too bad for a bike that can't corner for shit. And really would not be a choice in accomadations for a resuced hostage. The Suzuki's will just kill it in performance. Also, this is an old bike, it ran in Motorcycle mag a year or so ago. Jay Leno was one of the first to buy one.

  11. Hmmm.... on Report From The 2600 Appeal Hearing · · Score: 1

The judge cut deep with a hard question: "Can you prosecute a newspaper who publishes a list of stores where obscenity can be purchased?" The parallels to this case should be obvious. The attorney dodged the question with an outstanding answer: "Yes and no." He tried to go back to his theory of looking at the overall conduct of the newspaper, but it was clear that he didn't want to say "Yes, we can prosecute the newspaper for publishing the list of stores" but did want 2600's actions to be covered, and wasn't sure how to reconcile those two desires ... and neither were the judges. I'm not sure they bought his argument.

Now I learned the Bill of Rights in the fourth grade. This is just purely a disgrace to the first amendment. They have no right and it's extremly sad that some asshole thinks he does. This guy should have his license taken away. And the statement about Movies over Music is just shit. They are millions more musicians than filmmakers and to say that film is on a higher level than music is just shit. I'm pist that I couldn't witness the show in person, I would have been thrown out for telling these two they really are Idiots!

  15. Some more ????? on Napster Helps RIAA Again; RIAA Still Ungrateful (Updated) · · Score: 1

Now, I just don't understand. Cisco missed their earnings by one cent , I think, and laid off X amount of people. RIAA post a -9% change in "total retail units" and I can't recall them laying off anyone. I understand that these are two totaly different fields but it should post some merit. I'm not a lawyer either but what are the punishment for posting a false balancesheet on a public company (if they are a public company)? I do remember reading a Lifestyles magazine about one A&R rep that works for Sony that took home $300,000/year. Really that is enough money for 10 families. And by the actual music that Sony released recently her job isn't really being done.

  16. Motorcycles? on Speeding To Become Impossible In UK? · · Score: 1

My primary source of transportation is a motorcycle (in the good months), nowhere does it say anything about them. Most new bikes are outfitted with a small computer but for things like fuel injection. I'm sure if such a thing was put into bikes I'd be in the garage fixing it.

By the looks of it though, the UK is really got it in for speeders. The January issue "Performance Bikes" was " Get smart on the street, Beat the Fuzz and evade the speeding Crackdown." Some unmarked cars and some cameras. That is quite a bit to hand out tickets. But is it really doing any good?

I'm still confused that the US spends millions a year on safer cars. Wouldn't be smarter to make safer drivers?

  17. Independent Musician on Ask Andre Hedrick About Hard Drive Copy Protection · · Score: 1

This is my situation. I'm an Independent Musician who owns all copyrights and publishing rights to the music that I wrote, recorded and released. This is legit too, all copyrights are done through the Library of Congress and I'm a Publisher through ASCAP. Now the question is how would I control what is done with my material? My stance on my material is somewhat a GPL license. If you want to give it to a friend, by all means give it to them. Now if these are under copy control I don't have control of what is rightfully mine. I really don't need someone to tell me what to do with my material. This subject is not only stupid it's offensive. I won't let Hollywood tell me what to do with my music or my computer. One last question would be how can I help? Who can I call, fax, email, bitch at? I'm more than willing to help.

We the people of the Corporations of the United States, in order to form a more perfect coporate union, establish justice, insure coporate tranquility, provide for the coporate defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the monopolistic blessings of liberty to the coporations, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
