I cannot possibly imagine texting as being a safer method of communication while driving as opposed to a phone system in which you feel less obligated to close your current screen so that your text isn't sent by accident, where as phones can be dropped with much less worry. Texting however, when distracted, has an effect of firstly distracting you because you don't just read text and understand it, you have to think about the tone and possibly read over what they said to fully understand.
answer this question first: Why would texting possibly increase when phone use is banned.
Texting is not easily spotted by cops. The people are using deceptive methods so they can do what they want. This means that every time someone tries to text while driving, not only are they distracted by driving but they are also distracted because they have to hide themselves which increases anxiety which is also distracting.
Just as phone use without a headset is banned due to the sudden inconvenience, people who will use their phones without headsets anyway are distracted like the texters and so they not only are focusing on the road and their conversation, but they are also focused on not getting caught when cops are around.
This subject is comparable to the concept of legalizing certain drugs ex: marijuana/cannibus. People believe that by restricting the general populations use of items such as these, will make us safer when in fact for both situations this will make people do things that are even more dangerous ex: gangs sell drugs and kill people who interfere/people text rather than use the phone and crash and people die.
i like to indulge in the subjects of conspiracies every so often and even i dont see the likelyhood of this story... honestly the aliens on the dark side of the moon conspiracy theory sounds more likely. i do understand that your post is a joke but still the whole historical evidence thing kinda killed it imo. i mean the moon was documented in many ways throughout history so... yeah:P

I say just reduce the days and increase the rate of transfer by implementing a pressurized tube transfer system like on futurama. that would solve the delivery time and the cost.
this makes sense considering the storage mechanism is magnetism. magnetic fields or a magnets strength do decrease over time. this is why im old fassioned and just use dvd discs to store my data on. it takes a log longer but with two backups being backed up every year its a lot cheaper in price but more expensive in time used.
for those who think that there is a difference in making copies of a digital product as opposed to a physical product you might be correct, however if you think about it. a physical copy can be compared to a digital copy in that you use your own computers hardrive to etch the information you are copying the book from onto another device. would they look at physical copying differently if someone had a machine that allowed them to view what was in a book and physically write and or print it and share it with friends? we do already but the problem with using it is that the paper costs more than if someone were to copy the book onto a flashdrive or something. we are still paying for the flashdrive that holds the media similarly to a book. it all draws down to the question of whether or not they would respond the same to media sharing negatively if paper were cheaper and if people simply left the information stacked up as packets of paper in the middle of the side walk with a sign that says "Take me".
i 'll have you know that those repetitive motions you were talking about are critically important in many thought processes that usually lead to the next physics theory, or a new method of data storage.
I experienced an array of network cuts recently as well! i thought i was the only one but this confirms my suspicions that something in the network is buggy. I use clearwire as does my mom and just as she was calling me claiming that the internet didn't work mine was acting buggy too. Whats stranger is that despite that all the diagnostics detected errors in the network connection, i could strangely remote connect to moms computer from mine! after this i did do another netstat to see what was going on but it showed no connections. it may have been due to the fact that i was connecting to the desktop there rather than trying to access youtube or another site that was possibly glitchy. anyone else experience something similar?
Not all laptops have service doors on the back! Netbooks are just one example of that. Have you ever tried to replace a netbooks ram? if you have you know that its hell because the manufacturers put it in the back of the motherboard on the very bottom of the laptop. The people from tech department didnt even want to touch my netbook XD. i didnt either but someone had to replace it.
Keep in mind. Microsoft started this company war.
is there a translation of the concept of using a nuke in the corporate world, because i wouldnt be suprised if someone pulled out a big trump card.
not all symantec software is bad. i have had experience with norton antivirus, internet security and other stand alone single minded programs which admitedly are pretty much a coin flip. the one product i have seen as the best altogether is norton 360. despite its higher than average price, it has been working since the beginning. i used norton 360 on a machine that was infected with 3 worm variants each having multiplied hundreds of times within the computer. when it finished with the scan it went from a slow useless device to a working machine. i tend to dive pretty deep into unsecured areas to get what i need too and all the different virus scanners i use (i use many scanners but only norton 360 to remove them) have turned up 0 virus/spyware/malware infections. hell i even wanted to examine a new viruse's code and it wouldnt even let me download its quarantined version. ive been using norton 360 for 3 years now and i havent had a problem since.
And ironicly what you just said in your comment will be just the inspiration some hacker needs to try and break some exploitation on it. congrats on that. I knew you were secretly on our side. ^_^ XD
only because the prerequisitee for being a mac power user is lowered because the whole purpose for macs is something that just works then and there. whether or not its the right format or lets you customize it as much as windows commonly has allowed is another story.
windows has made more power users out of people than most other os's and dont attack me linux, ubuntu, etc users because admit it, you used a windows computer first before you dove into another os.
A lot of people are suprised at how well the government can convince a large populace that something is what it isnt. If they spun the right story together i bet they could get people to believe the sky is really red but we can't see it. The fact is that records can be easily falsified, storys can be made up, lab tests forged and conspiracy theorists can be used as scapegoats. We all at one point or another believe someone to be telling the truth based on vague, unverified proof. With the honest whistle blowers must come the lying cheat that tries to cover his story up.
As someone who "has his head so far up Google's ass" id like to present you with some encriminating information about ms. Due to spam i had changed my email several times while with hotmail (ms) and the last one i made before i switched to gmail. i hadn't done anything with the hotmail account. It was empty. No subscriptions made.... then as i come back from my calming conversion to Gmail weeks later. I SEE SPAM!!!!!! AT LEAST 5 DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS TO WHICH I DID NOT SUBSCRIBE ON THE FIRST PAGE OF MY INBOX!!!!!!!!!
microsoft's main goal was always and has always been to make a profit. how else would all those glitches still be in the operating system. they are not trying to make it better they are trying to slow down the process so that they can have all the good stuff saved for when they have competitors. we all know that microsoft is holding out on us. either that or they have lost their game.
I understand blue and violet being the damage causing colors however i do not understand how green is damaging considering that the method that people use to protect themselves when using black-lights that emit blue/violet light is by wearing yellow glasses which converts the blue into soothing non harmful green.
explain it to me if i'm wrong... but then again all light is radiation and what does radiation eventually cause.
from a grading point of view iv'e never seen how anyone could get anything over 100% in anything unless there is extra credit involved and its being used for individual assignments. maybe you meant that but just saying that iv'e never heard of anyone with 105%+ ESPECIALLY when they only do "pretty good" on the tests.
it's pointless to ban laptops because a more annoying distraction will come from the alternative method of taking notes that people will have to readjust themselves to.
Instead of people being able to put headphones on to allow other students to listen while they play, peoples phones will be binging more than ever after this due to common features a lot of phones have today which in most ways replicate what a laptop can do except for the useful keyboard which allows you to take notes efficiently.
i would rather not have my phone use banned due to some idios forgetting to set their phones on vibrate/silent/off.
a laptop is a necessary evill. at least it has a keyboard. most peoples keyboard typing is way faster than their writing, and less tiring.
this is comparible to the problem highschools have with internet filtering and the new proxys that replace the ones the tech guys blocked. its a never ending cycle.
"If you are going to be doing substantially distracting things in the same class where I am trying to learn, though, you've just made it my problem."
it depends on your definition of the phrase
"substantially distracting". if by that you mean someone playing a video on high volume without headphones, then i agree. but unless there is an auditory distraction I don't see a reason why it would be distracting because The people who really don't give a shit and are displaying on their screen anything thats distracting will normally be sitting in the back. i think this would dismiss your primate metaphor.
(please comment if you think im wrong i love feedback)
This is possible but a less complicated method (assuming that the interval between each burst of energy is small) would be using a system like morse code or using the same protocol that fiberoptic cable receivers use to read light as data. Either that or create a new data transfer protocol entirely.
I sincerely hope that its the latter because id appreciate something better than usb 2.0 (other than 3.0)
If we work with what we have when we have it then we can improve upon it while also researching other potential ways to do it. So if embryonic stem cell research hadnt been banned then we could have had our head scientists working on it while the rest of em try and find other ways to do it. either way with the ban we have lost a potential of getting important work done faster with people that know what they are doing rather than work at the slow pace of searching what would seem like grains of sand for the potential answer or alternative (waste of time).
All the better to eat you with my dear.

i use a holographic keyboard to type things out. its a little inconvenient but great for inputing text into mobile devices with bluetooth. http://news.softpedia.com/news/The-Holographic-Keyboard-20314.shtml

And yet most mac users buy them only because "they don't want to take the time to learn how they work."
