Yeah, I ended up going to hotbot, which was the search engine I used before google came along. But that was like 4 years ago. Before that I think I used altavista and then yahoo before that and then before that there was lynx and goofer.
There is a STTNG episode "The Chase" where they discover the prior existance of beings from 5 billion years ago who they themselves found that there was no other life in their galaxy at the time.
That episode has always made me wonder if we could be in the same predicament. It could be that we're just "first". I'm sure that it would be wishful thinking for some people, but I would find it unfortunate.
If we are talking about truely sentient robots, then that should define them as being able to choose. Choose whether they want to follow the laws that govern them or not.
After all, sentient robots may look at humans and see that we do not always follow the laws that man has laid out to govern us.
What do you mean? It was just a site with a lot of information about Philip Glass. Like all the other fan type sites in the mid to late 90s. You probably did one too.
Reading this reminds me of when I ran an experiment on my Philip Glass Library website back in 1997. For a period of 3-4 weeks, I blocked Internet Explorer, then about 2 months after that, I blocked Netscape for about 3-4 weeks.
The email responses I received from each set of browsers users was very different. On average, Netscape users seemed more educated and had a longer average word and email length than IE users. most IE users had a 1 or 2 line email where as Netscape users usually where 2 paragraphs at least.
I think it would be valueable if someone developed a chart of common tasks (saving files, opening programs, writing a resume, etc.) done in multiple operating environments (Windows, MacOS X, Gnome and KDE let's say).
Then the chart could show the number of steps required for each operation and maybe a difficulty level. I know this has been done before, but that other time it wasn't doing it based on tasks, it was looking at the design of the GUI more.
there is a way to transfer the existing format to whatever is next without any data loss.
I imagine that the next thing will be little cylindrical holographic storage devices. Or something to that effect. Where would you put the label though?
It is one possible solution to such problems
The global average temperature will have to rise to 451 degrees Fahrenheit.
Instead, try to keep up with the demands and needs of users.
Sounds kinda like the ship computer in STTNG.
Jordi: Computer, why didn't the warp field form?
Computer: There was insuffient anti-mater to cause a stable reaction.
I've been looking around for these Micro/Mini PC cases recently and have only found the Antec Aria case for sale.
Does anyone know of a place to get other cases like this, with or without the motherboards. Thanks.

I thought I was going nuts, I've never had google give me problems.
I found it hard to remember the names of other search engines that I could use though.
What goes around comes around.
Uh, there is no need for Ctrl when in console mode. I guess you've been in X windows too much.
Or, GGLE
So the way I see it, all I have to do is emerge sync and emerge system and then I'll have a 2004.2 system? I currently installed from 2004.1.
Annoyingly enouugh, I just wrote a CD for 2004.1 the other day.
Good point, that could definately be true as well. In that case, we would at least find some archeological goodies.

Most phone carriers make more money off of businesses to help subsidise lower costs for residential users.
I can see it now.
I'll have a 5 terabyte burger, large fries and a coke.

We'll see I guess.

I should release that study sometime.
The second coming of Jesus.
I haven't heard about that one. Who is publishing it? Does anyone have any screenshots?

Um, and how is this offtopic? I've gotten the feeling lately that someone is abusing their moderator points to lower people's scores.

In soviet russia, the dots eat you.
Maybe you're being sarcastic, but you should check out the software "Reason" by Propellerheads Software.
Just in case nobody else posts it:
