They want to punish the foilwrappers with 4 year in prison and 74.000 euro's in fine. That's about 110.000 dollar. To make matters worst, today a guy who tortured a woman involving 2 fists and a reconstructed anus, also got 4 years...
Yeah, we are fools too.
They have over 5 million camera's with face recognition following their every move...
Seriously, they just don't care.
(And this is coming from a Dutchman where there are even more phonetaps and as of 2012 mandatory GPS in every car)
Sure, the Gimp is nice if you can't afford Photoshop. But I think of myself as someone who does a bit more than your average user when it comes to designing and especially modification of photo's. The Gimp has it's own right to be alive, but they should have copied CS interface. Come on, who of you actually can draw such a simple thing as a straight line in the Gimp? I can, after I googled it... Once you know it, it's simple. But it isn't simple to get to know. Not at all. That's what killing Gimp. Sure you can have that PS gui that has been created for Gimp 1.3 but still it doesn't forfill the need for basic users who want an icon to draw straight lines and it sure as hell can't compete with CS on any level. *But you can write your own perl scripts for it* - I'm an artist, I pay people who write decent plugins for me. The best of those are within Photoshop. Fact.
So I applaud this. The people who need the possibilities of The Gimp will just apt-get it and the people who don't need will never ever mis it. Smart move, keeping in mind what Ubuntu stands for.
For resigning, they would have taken that contract of out my cold dead hands! As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure I would do the same with the IP-logs from that Greenbaum. Take them from his cold dead hands... The poll was asking for it.
*yay finally an internethero*
After reading your comment I have to say that you are probably right and I was wrong. Now I probably still do the piratethingie because of the following reasons. I like games. I like that games give me a taste for 'true freedom' with things I could never do otherwise. Chances are pretty slim I would sign up to be the bitch that dies for his country in another country (lol) to shoot with really cool weapons at another son of a mother who has done absolutely nothing to piss me off. So games give me the opportunity to do that. Now let's take another example of a really big game that is going to hit the stores this week in Europe. Forza 3. Console game, no way to set up your own servers. But the team behind it realized that their game is a great success mostly due to the exceptional community of gamers backing it up. So they gave us in forza 3 the chance to still meet with friends, reserve slots for them on their own servers and just letting us do on the xbox what you would except on the pc for a racing game. No modding allowed, but you can easily organize a clan/club of enthusiasts. And even on the pc no-one wants modding or cheating abilities. We take forza very serious and will not stand up for cheaters.
I think this is where MW2 goes wrong. We on the pc have come to expect modding and own servers for this genre. Why? Well... because it enhances the gaming-experience and therefore the value of such game. I don't see this preventing piracy though. Mw1 was a great game, nice singleplayer, albeit a bit short. But the people who pirate today often do so because they can only spend their hard earned dollar, pound, yen or euro once... You don't want to spend that on a lousy product that you know could have been so much better if only the devs would let you...
Something tells me they want to use 'distributed power'for this. In other words... they want to use the customer bandwidth... And not invest in their own.
But look at the bright side. With no possible way to team up with friends and clans on their servers I don't feel very much pressed to buy the game. Now, where is that piratebay-thingie.
this would be great news for the paralyzed people. Sure, you can't think 'walk there' and walk there, but if they can hook this system up to an electrode and an input device like a mouthcontrolled switch (if someone is fully paralyzed) it would give them great freedom again!
Build it in... When for x time no 'special' password is given the termite gets an ignitionsource. It should be quite easy after that to spot the thief. Whoever smells like bacon most is the one you're after:)
To be honest, I think apple's core business (with the iphone and ipod) is primarly targeted at childeren, teens and young adults... Allthough I fully agree with you, I don't think this going to happen.
We really don't need battlenet. I've seen how that works with DRM on music. And games are bit to expensive to throw away when blizz decides to go bankrubt or that holding battlenet online becomes to expensive.
Could be, but the oldest patent they are trying to use here is filed in 2005.
Patent number: 7130389
Filing date: Apr 28, 2005
The other 2 are even more recently filed and granted.
Been watching FOX-news haven't we?
I could go on about why it is wrong that only the rich people have access to good medical help, but since you are an anonymous coward and I actually have a karma to think about I think I will let this one go. It's completely offtopic and seems a bit like trolling to me.
(leave the operation out, face recognition and mandrake will get you more results)
Hi, sorry they didn't tell you this in the UK, but please search for operation Mandrake. It will answer your questions.

That's a bit like Goliath fighting Goliath. Where the hell is David?

Just to inform you about patching your kernel without reboot: http://tech.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/04/24/1334234
why in the world would I try to kill them? Damn Germans, still the same insensitive clods they were back in '37-'45.
No problemo mate, here at LocksRus my cousin and me we offer free locks as long as people let us inside to place the trap, eh lock.

Found cure for cancer. Patented it.
only if the software-bit fails!

Putting sticky tape on my glasses as we speak.

The worst part about your post is that you are right.
