I agree, unfortunately there are a lot of people that don't realize this and will click on any and every cool looking app out there.
However, even if your Facebook account is compromised people need to realize that they should only be putting information on their page that they want the whole world to see. If people would just ask themselves one question "Am I ok with my [boss, wife, mom, complete stranger] knowing this" before posting a lot of issues could be avoided.
"The nature of the [breach] is such that card-not-present transactions are actually quite difficult for the bad guys to do because one piece of information we know they did not get was an address," Baldwin said.
Because as we all know it is impossible to get someone's address by having only their full name and credit card number.
They are trying to down play a very serious incident by disclosing the breach on a day heavily focused on the inauguration. Then they have the nerve to say "don't worry they didn't get your address" as if to say someone smart enough to embed malicious software which gathers credit card numbers is not smart enough to find someone's address. Common!
There are thousands of business men and women traveling in and out of the country every day with proprietary information from every industry. Many corporations forbid others to access their assets without proper Non-Disclosure Agreements in place. So what will happen with they follow corporate policy and politely refuse the search?
Obviously the laptop will have a password so the the well trained security, (whom might I add can't even identify a Mac Air over a bomb) are going to detain you while they try to hack their way in? Not to mention some companies that have hard drive encryption in place.
They will either need to build bigger detaining rooms or fix this post 9-11 freak-out policy quick.
I know your post was serious and I think it is pretty awesome that you used Doom to model your data center. The fact that you got asked "why does the guy have a gun" makes this hilarious. For some reason I immediately pictured you saying "Because it is a secure data center duh!"
I'm not so sure since this is not really a game of chance and you are not playing against the "house" but other players. That may be true, but your argument could also justify why No Limit Hold'em (NLH) shouldn't be a problem either. Poker is not a game of complete chance, there is a lot of skill involved:
*Knowing how much to bet based on how aggressive the table
*Knowing how to calculate pot odds
*Reading the other players based on their bests
*Knowing what hands to play and how aggressively
*And so on...
In games such as No Limit Hold'em (NLH) you are not playing against the "house" either, you are playing against other players. Granted they take a cut of the action, but I'd assume some way or another Tournament.com is going to take a cut of the action as well.
I foresee this going in the same direction as online poker for US residents. It will soon be illegal for players to fun their multiplayer accounts with cash using a US bank account.
I don't have a problem working while I'm on a plane; I do so frequently on my laptop.
Sorry. If your employer expects you to be working any time you have cellular reception, that's your problem. I don't have any problem with this at all. When I get a phone call I will gladly work with the person at the end of the call. I just believe that someone sitting right next to me trying to sleep shouldn't have to put up with me doing so. I extend common courtesies to those around me when I receive a call. If I am at a restaurant I will excuse myself and step outside to take the call. If I am at a movie, I will leave the theater and take the call in the lobby. The other people in the restaurant and movie do not want to hear me talking about Information Assurance issues, and if they do, I certainly don't want them hearing about it. The reason I mention these situations is because it is nearly impossible to excuse yourself and "step outside" when you are in a plane at 36,000 feet. Sure you can go to the back of the cabin but odds are there will be 2-3 more people back there taking a call. These will not be quiet calls either, because planes are not exactly quiet in the first place.
My sympathy to you when you are sitting in coach and the person on your left is talking insurance claims involving genital herpes and the person on the right is talking to her omg boyfriend about like all the cool stuff her and her family are like totally going to do on their vacation.
I really don't want to be stuck inches away from someone talking way too loud for several hours anyway.
Business travel is stressful enough the way it is and being "out of touch" from the office may be the best part of the trip. If they allow cell phones on airplanes that means I will be expected to work while I am on the plane as well. Get 20 people on a plane doing that and it is going to be really annoying to everyone else.
I didn't really buy the energy savings part of it from the start.
The only thing I can think of is that the DST change is good for businesses because it makes it lighter longer three weeks earlier. I don't know if this is true or not but this may make people more inclined to go run an errand right after work rather than going straight home and waiting until the weekend.
Maybe so, but find something better to complain about. Online gambling is illegal in the US. Drugs, prostitution and child p0rn are also illegal in the US, stop complaining about that too!

You're kidding right?
A x.509 certificate will only slow the NSA down a few seconds (if that).
Solid state drives, for the win.

Oh crap, get ready for another wave of "omg where is the start button" questions on the Ubuntu message boards.
I don't know if anyone else saw it but, Life Lock's very own CEO Todd Davis was nominated for a Pwnie for his brilliant idea to publicize his SSN.
Someone was able to use his info to get a $500 fast cash loan.
Not the most techie Pwnie but funny nonetheless.
I agree with your statement 100%. Unfortunately, very few people actually do that.
Absolutely ridiculous.

Screw the doctor, I'd be more worried about jamming the Pilot's radio communications.
I can't believe you didn't get modded funny, you get a +1 funny in my book.

Just make sure you pay taxes on your winnings.
It will soon be illegal for players to fun their multiplayer...
Fund, not fun.
Sorry, I got caught up in the FP rush.

Stand by for an amendment to the current port security bill

They made a section on just for you! ;)

This may be true, but it may be the only weather some gamers experience.
You're right, I saw it on Wikipedia.

Just a thought.

Be cautions. You may walk in to find a pallet of 60 PS3 consoles and a sign saying "April Fools!"
I know there is a lonely farmer joke in there somewhere...
