    The old versions don't 'work well enough' if they keep changing their document formats and the older version can't read the newer version's documents.
    As long as the file format stays the same, sure, but how much trust do you put in MS that this will be the case? (they WANT you to need the newer version)

    Printtool is nice, but magicfilter's dithering seems to be much better, and it doesn't require a gui to setup (nice for a headless file/print server).

    PGP is a program, not an algorithm.

    Also, translation isn't encryption.
    The messages were first encrypted and then translated to Navajo. Anyone who could speak Navajo could translate the message, but not many people could at the time.

    I don't know about whether it's good or well-tested, but I really doubt their EULA permits suing Apple if their software happens to fuck up a buisness. A common fallacy is thinking you can sue the company who makes the software.

    Compaq must use the same shitty floppy/HD bay-thingie in all their systems.
    Of course, it's not as bad as the HD bays in Gateway towers. You couldn't remove a HD from one of those in 15mins if your life depended on it.

    The V2 couldn't be his design because all of his rockets used thrust from the front rather than the rear to avoid requiring fins for stable flight. Also, the V2 was modeled after the German rifle bullet used at the time, so I really doubt that Goddard would have used that exact design.
    Though, I agree about your other points.

    No, it was a USAF test pilot who did the jump. It was in the late 50's for a a test called Project Manhigh. They did lots of tests of maniquens leading up to a few manned dives. The point was to test a new kind of parachute for extremely high-altitude emergencies (accidents on ascent in a spacecraft and their spyplanes).

    Those proprietary 911-system information documents could be ordered from an official AT&T catalog for a price of $33 ($20 for catalog, $13 for document, the ordering call was a toll-free number), which is a bit less than the $24,639.05 that they claimed they 'lost' because of the copying of the 12-page document.

    Well, the .map format that the editors use is just plaintext coordinates and texture information about each brush (solid convex object) and entity which is then converted to a .bsp (what the engine actually uses), so it would be possible (but not easy) to convert a general 3d-data file format to quake-style .map.

    I'm of the newer generation of nerds and I'm still awestruck at the amazing-ness of space exploration, and feel lucky to be alive at a time like this.
    I might be a minority though, because I don't know of many others my age who really care about space exploration and habitation.
