It's true that they don't know how to make an unbreakable vault, but they can look at one and say "That's a stupid place for that widget, because placing it there makes it easier to crack the safe," so many of the simple flaws could be easily identified.
If people were able to have frank conversations with kids about drugs (and many other things), then maybe they might understand why people are always screaming "Drugs are bad!" (although I might disagree with this point of view, I don't like ignorance), instead of learning it from the kid in math who's selling him pot.
It doesn't have to be an orbital flight (to make the contest a *little* easier), a suborbital flight will do just fine. It's that darn getting-into-space-in-the-first-place thing that's a bitch:P
But actually taking the time to investigate the big picture, and go deeper than a few blurbs and catchy headlines in a magazine or newspaper would take time and effort, which is something that most Americans seem to refuse to do.
The whole reason that accidents happen is because they DON'T KNOW what they don't know. How do you expect to find a minute flaw in a plan where you didn't even know to check?
And the NSA would get all giddy just thinking about being able to route everyone's email through their big computers.

You can transmit energy, via high-power microwaves. And the sun does a wonderful job of transmitting energy via photons.

Whether it's illegal or not in your particular section of the earth doesn't seem to matter to the MPAA. :(

... any scientist should be using SI units today.
That might be true of the scientists and engineers, but not necessarily of the contractors or of other government agencies.

And so it makes no sense at all to me to hire Billy the Kid to make a better bank vault. I mean, that's crazy.
:P
Heh, that's exactly what should be done, after all... who knows better about how to crack a safe than the guy who cracked the safe

If it wasn't unconstitutional, they probly would (which is more sad).

Blame Canada!

Heh, UT and Q3 *are* bad. :P
Oldschool Quake 1 is still the best

Heh, the shuttle normally lands at an insanely steep angle, at an insanely fast speed. It has the aerodynamic properties of a brick. :P
